my whole family is happy. It was time. Probably a year or two before we start seeing a new Pats future. Should be exciting rebuild

It will be interesting, but it may take time. It could be a while before you find even just a solid starting QB. The drop from GOAT contender to league average or below will be painful.

Because Bill gets rid of everyone a step sooner than the rest of the league.

Regardless, we're talking 2008. Who on the current Pats roster rivals even late career Moss, if Welker and Edelman are in the slot role?
edelman in the slot

harry on the outside.

for now.

They went 11-5

With essentially the same team that went 18-1 the year before, and the easiest SOS in the league, they lost to every team with a winning record and missed the playoffs.

In other words, you and Max Kellerman aren't exactly deep thinkers.

So you think Harry equals 1000 yards from Moss for a replacement QB to throw to? I'm going to take the under on that one...

Harry is a very different type of receiver than Moss, no one is saying any different, but the kid has skills and 1,000 yd year is not as far fetched as you make it out to be.

Alls I know is the Pats minus prime Brady went 11-5 while the Colts without past his prime Manning had the first pick in the draft

They barely had one receiver get 1000 last year, with the #2 under 400 (not counting RBs). No 1000 yard receivers the year prior. 2nd 1000 yard receiver in '17 was Gronk (also not a WR). The odds of that passing game supporting two 1000 yard receivers as constituted is highly unlikely.

So, what you're saying is The Colts didn't conduct what was possibly the most obvious tank job in NFL history?

Interesting.

I'm well aware of the offensive struggles last year and I attribute them as much to the injuries and otherwise piss poor play of the O-line. No QB can succeed behind an atrocious line.

The center will be back (as of right now) and that is huge. I also think that Brady's reluctance to throw the ball to the younger guys hurt the team. Hopefully the new QB will heed the coaching staff's instruction and throw it to the open man regardless of who it is.

where did i say 1,000 yards (or you)? Pats have won super bowls without a 1,000 yard receiver. gone to many an AFCCG without one as well (reche caldwell for example).

harry has outside #1 potential. edelman is still the best slot receiver in football, if not simply top 5.

Nope, just couldn’t win without a real QB

I was comparing the Pats surrounding passing game in 2008 (for Cassell) to today's (for Brady's replacement). Both Welker and Moss were 1000+ in '08 even with Cassell, and I don't see that possibility for 2020's roster. This isn't the same situation as far as throwing a replacement in for Brady and letting Bill fix it, especially since we know it isn't a short-term fix.

this is 2001 all over again, but with less shock to my system watching the highest paid QB in nfl history at the time get, essentially, in a 30mph car accident with a brick wall (that'll never leave me, the DR's saying that about bledsoe after)

That's pretty scary. He came out of it OK, thankfully.

This is sad....but the outcome for Tom, Patriots/BB, and the other AFCE teams will be interesting to watch this coming season. :suds:

Best of luck to him.

Yes. He missed all kinds of throws. He was one of the worst graded QBS in the league on virtually every type of pass last year. Hes the GOAT but no one stays that way forever

No he's not. Not the greatest QB, nor (ridiculously) the greatest player.

I have to say....

I've been a football fan since 2003. Never have I seen a offseason so dramatic as this one is.
