Just great...obrien convinced the players to stay and then he is doing a d3al. Easy to talk the talk. Not so easy to 2alk the walk. Scum bag,...

by that logic, no coach should ever leave their current job

I'd say this means he's really dead set on leaving.

Feel bad for PSU fans, players and recruits. BOB was good for the B1G.

Incoming Penn State recruit Thomas Holley, the school's second-highest ranked recruit in 2014, told ESPN.com that he had a conversation Saturday with O'Brien, who told the defensive lineman that he way staying with the Nittany Lions.

"He said it's not true, he's going to be at Penn State and he's going to be there for me when I get there," Holley told ESPN.com.

Thomas Holley just learned a life lesson.

The real world is not like living in your parent's house.

I agree and too bad Bill Obrien was the person who sold his integrity to give that young man a life's lesson. Shame on O'Brien....lie to a kid and your shit for life. Hope the money is worth his integrity.

He brought in kids that are classier than he is as a grown man.

I'm still trying to figure out how this happened or who is to blame, but by all accounts from what I've read it seems as though his negotiations with PSU fell through bc of NCAA restrictions on $ for coaches and facility upgrades... That said I've also seen that they reached a deal and he still backed out. Don't know what the true deal is.

Fact is this most likely exposes PSU in many more ways than the average joe realizes. No current president, an AD who is only the 64th highes paid in D1 and a BOT that isn't trusted by a single alum probably pushed BOB out.

All that said... TexasMan & you other Texans fans. Get your private jet up here and get BOB out of my state ASAP.

Apparently O'Brien was having troubles with "The Paterno People".

Its really too bad for PSU. O Brien was a quality coach. Im sure the Nittany Lions will find a good replacement but BOB really had them making strides with all that they were dealing with.

Who wants to go coach that steaming pile?

O'Brien

“You can print this: You can print that I don’t really give a —- what the ‘Paterno people’ think about what I do with this program,” he said. “I’ve done everything I can to show respect to Coach Paterno. Everything in my power. So I could really care less about what the Paterno faction of people, or whatever you call them, think about what I do with the program. I’m tired of it.

“For any ‘Paterno person’ to have any objection to what I’m doing, it makes me wanna put my fist through this windshield right now. . . .

“I’m trying to field the most competitive football team I can with near-death penalty —-ing sanctions. Every time I say something like that and somebody prints it, it’s skewed as an excuse. And I’m not an excuse-maker. I’m trying to do the best I can for the kids in that program. That’s all I care about is the kids in that program. As long as I’m the head football coach here.”

He was mad.

These "paterno people" are the ones that threw Joe to the wolves. He's referring to the BOT and admin. It was brilliantly orchestrated with his agent. What better way for him to get outsiders to "feel for him" than to use Paterno's name in yet another bad light.

Real "Paterno People" are the fans and alum and we were on board with him taking the program to the next level.

Yup, Now Obrien is trying to save face by blaming it on the "Paterno people". What a load of shit. Obrien received nothing but praise during his time at Penn State. IMO, he is just making himself look worse. Should simply admit the money is more important than his integrity and move on.
