Very alliterative title, Dash. You could have added "...Beep, Beep, Beep" at the end too. :)

I get why they signed him, but doesn't $4.5/per seem a little high?

This seems to be the contract based on what Blues mgmt hope he can deliver rather than what he has delivered (although a 30 goal season is nothing to sneeze at by any stretch). I would also add that St. Louis (and I would also put Calgary in this category) need to shell out more dough to retain players than other cities.

Good point. Plus, when you're one of the top scorers on a team without tremendous production, you're probably going to get a slight bump for that as well.

I love Backes's game, but the price is a little high. It's probably what he would have made had he hit the open market, and a big season could justify the contract. To me his production is pretty much going to be based on his linemates. If Perron or Berglund live up to their potential, Backes could be rocking 30 goal years and 60-70 points for a long time.

I'd love a big mean banger who can play all three forward positions on the Wings, but that is a hefty cap hit.
