the two defense I saw do it all year long with an offense.
the Saints defense back in the late 80's or early 90's (memory fade)
& the Ravens defense with Trent Dilfer.
That Saints defense was filthy... Especially their entire LB corp...

they might have been the greatest set of LBs ever.
& I grew up with the steel curtain, Monsters of the midway & all the great defenses from back in the day.

I remember loving the Saints because that was when the USFL was popular and Bobby Hebert went to play in NO when the USFL folded... They also drafted one of my favorite WSU Cougars in, Reuben Mayes... It was unfortunate to see injuries shorten his career...

Vaughn Johnson, Ricky Jackson, Sam Mills and Pat Swilling... Just a nasty duo...

& that defense did it year after year with zero offense to relieve them.

I was probably too harsh on the Jets. The defense is good but it's not some all-time force of nature. Rodgers injury was desperately unfortunate but it's hard to imagine any pocket passer doing well for the whole season behind that O-Line. Even with a healthy Rodgers and a quality back-up they'd be 3rd best in that division.

Bobby Hebert was a good player. He was the only player on the Saints 'scab' team that was offered a contract after the strike folded.

For some reason, the national media is really buying into the narrative that the New York Jets are a dark horse this season, now that they have Aaron Rodgers. My twitter feed is full of Jets camp highlights featuring that Ohio State receiver they got, and pundits applauding Rodgers for taking a pay cut so they could sign other guys and compete.

Are the Jets for real? Not for real? What do people think?

I predict 8-9, with a disappointing performance from Rodgers himself leading the way. Is he still microdosing?

Quarterbacks who will underperform

McCarriston: I grouped these two together because they are both coming off of injuries and getting up there in age. Rodgers is a popular pick for a quarterback who will underperform and there is reason for that. He moves in an odd way for a star quarterback who has something to prove this year, skipping team practices as one example. If I were a 40-year-old quarterback, coming off a season where I played just four snaps, with people wondering if I can be the same after an injury, I'd be doing everything to not give them extra material against me. Rodgers does not have me buying in at all and add the Jets' history of struggles, I can't see this going as well as New York fans are hoping. Call me a hater, but how can signing an aging quarterback who is coming off a major injury to a four-year, $180 million contract work out well?

Dubin: It's fairly simple for Rodgers. I cannot get behind old dudes coming off Achilles tears suddenly snapping back and being their former selves. I'll let others bet on that.

For me, Rodgers is about the quality of the OL play in front of him. I don’t trust it.

McCarriston is jealous of Aaron Rodgers. Always has been. Dreams of being a 40 year old QB but just can't seem to muster up the courage.

Dubin is a Dumbass. Fairly simple minded.

2023 thread and poll.

For 2024 some sportsbooks have them ahead of the Dolphins for the AFC East divisional title. I'm not convinced.
