Omar, with the 5 year minimum rule how are you going to build the marlins? Could you even get a 25 man roster from them?
I'm not sure I agree with that. Thats not how baseball works. If your 3rd best player is backing up your best player and can play multiple positions then you get that 3rd best player out there. Also, one last note; I will only put a player in a certain position if he played the majority of his career at that position. For example, Stan Musial will be counted as a first baseman, not a left fielder or right fielder.
I just think it doesn't give a fair representation of the actual team. Then you'll have Stan Musial in left field and Albert Pujols at first base. It just makes it feel too much like a video game for meI'm not sure I agree with that. Thats not how baseball works. Being used as a reliever put him over the top for the HOF. The Braves had issues at closer for years and Smoltz (the ultimate team player) moved to the pen to help solve that issue (which he did). It's not not close like comparing John Smoltz to Aaron Harang. But Smoltz had a better WAR, ERA, FIP, xFIP, K/9, and BB/9. Smoltz was significantly hurt by wrongly being used as a reliever for a while, but I don't hold that against him

They would have been much better off leaving him as a starterBeing used as a reliever put him over the top for the HOF. The Braves had issues at closer for years and Smoltz (the ultimate team player) moved to the pen to help solve that issue (which he did).
You can do what you want, but I like putting them at the position they played the mostBut teams have moved players all the time... Yankees moved ARod to 3rd base, when he could have and should have still played SS...
and aren't we supposed to have video game like teams?? aren't we trying to create the best team possible??
He peaked as a 2.9 win player as a reliever. In the years before and after as a SP, he put up 8.4, 6.7, 5.2, 5.4, 5.2, 5.5, and 5.5 win seasonsI disagree.
Pitching WAR uses FIP (with infield fly balls), adjusted for park, and scaled to how many innings the pitcher threw. FIP is translated into runs, converted to represent value above replacement level, and is then converted from runs to wins. Can you explain to me how WAR is calculated?
I see. Easy peasy.Pitching WAR uses FIP (with infield fly balls), adjusted for park, and scaled to how many innings the pitcher threw. FIP is translated into runs, converted to represent value above replacement level, and is then converted from runs to wins.
