Yep, I've always considered the NCAA to operate like this.

Man is walking down the road, shoots and kills someone along the way. Police come and arrest the guy who walks up behind him for the crime.

It's horrible. They never punish the guilty.

Maybe its time that a school paved the way and defied the NCAA and said, punish the guilty party, not the school. Maybe Battle will stand his ground and find a way to make the NCAA see that one player did this, one player should be made to pay. If in fact it happened.

Well, the people responsible for the PSU stuff are either in jail or about to go on trial. The only reason the NCAA hit PSU is because of media pressure.

NCAA was just trying to pretend like it was relevant. I have no idea why they were even involved in a criminal matter.

Their are so many rules its hard to say what the NCAA is going to interpret in any case and what punishment they will levy. Whats sad is they will go after the school and the team, but not be able to punish the player as he has moved on. They will essentially be punishing the players currently there for doing nothing wrong. This is why the system is broken and the NCAA needs to find a way to fix this. The school is not at fault, nor the players currently there, so why should they pay the price? If its proven that Fluker did this, then he alone should have to face the NCAA and this should be written into all future scholarships, that if they get caught they will have to reimburse the total cost of their education, plus a hefty fine that should be high enough to thwart such actions.

mostly through any sanctions its always players that had nothing to do with it..reggie bush was playing for the saints at time usc got punished. it sucks but that's way it happens...with the current system it doesn't impact the players who move on to nfl or whatever...although I liked what happened with Terrell pryor when he got to NFL...even as a raider fan.

I think if a player plays while knowingly being ineligible they have committed fraud.

Because talking heads on ESPN demanded that the NCAA take action. Its funny cause those same talking heads (Gene Wojo, Skip Bayless, Stephan A Smith and a few other) are now saying they overreacted and that the NCAA should end the sanctions now.

Yes under the rules that they sign each year that they are in compliance, that should be considered fraud. I would love to see the NCAA try to take them to court and prosecute them under a broken law like that, it might stop some of this shit and protect the schools from getting slammed for the actions of one person.

Everyone needs to take a step back and a deep breath. Saban is far too smart to get caught. Alabama will be in the clear on this.

It was found by the NCAA to not be LOIC. Thanks for playing.

Your team pays recruiting services just like every other team.

Oregon just paid more than the asking rate to get a player.

A player that never played a down. A player that is going to rush for 300 vs Tejas this season. A player who plays for a team at a truck stop in Texas that is better than the one in Austin.

it will be 350, but even if it is 500 it wont change the fact that Oregon bought him

We all know that ESPN and NCAA will find a way to sweep this under the rug.

If you watched his press conference tonight, you could see his anger over this, but he knows his team has done nothing wrong. He is smart and so is Battle(AD), they will get out on top of this and limit the damage to the school as much as possible. This i believe wholeheartedly.

Misery loves company huh? Got to prove the players took the money first and foremost, otherwise there is nothing to sweep.

So much denial

Yes, anyone who doesn't make the same assumptions you do is in denial.

And when you get proven wrong, I'm sure you'll just claim it's some conspiracy with the SEC and NCAA.

Anger can stem from many different sources.
  • Anger at being falsely accused.
  • Anger at being stupid and getting caught.
  • Anger that people have the audacity to accuse such a fine upstanding (person, people, program) of breaking the rules.

Anger does not impress me.

Far too often we see the righteous anger of people turn out to be nothing but a smokescreen.

Well, if there's anything to this, my hope is that Luther Davis is sent for a long stint to prison, and once he's out, sued for everything he has by the University of Alabama.
