This was kind of funny.

FanGraphs put up an article about if "no one got to play the White Sox".

The Guards would be up 9 on the Twins and 11.5 on the Royals. lol. Twins and Royals are both 11-1 against the White Sox. the Twins would be 4 games over .500 and the Royals would be 1 game under .500.

It’s not the fault of the Twins and Royals that they’ve made the most of their encounters with the White Sox, and we might need to perform some sort of forensic investigation to figure out how the Guardians, who are currently tied with the Dodgers for the best record in baseball, managed to drop five games to Chicago. Still, removing the Central’s favorite chew toy would make the entire American League playoff picture even more fun.

Twins are hot right now. A long way to the playoffs so we will see if they can keep it up through the end of the season. They have a legit shot at the division title

I think it comes down to health with the Twins

when healthy- with how Buxton and Correa have bounced back, and with Miranda developing, and Lewis establishing himself- they have a very scary lineup.

However, it looks like Buxton just got hurt, and Correa has been dealing with an injury, Lewis has dealt with a lot of health issues, and even Miranda has been hurt.

When they have their full lineup it is scary. Julien has looked better since being called back up. Carlos has been good. Willi Castro has been good. Larnach has been pretty steady and Kepler has always been a steady bat.

@mr.hockey4242 --- say all the position players are healthy- what is their ideal lineup?

C- Jeffers
1B- Santana
2B- Julien? Castro? Farmer?
3B. Lewis
SS- Correa
LF- Larnach
CF- Buxton
RF- Kepler
DH- Miranda?

Twins also need Lopez to be an ace with Ryan going down. Ryan is a big loss to a team that was also struggling with SP depth.

Everyone was hunting for starting pitching and either missed out or gave up a ton---- and the Guardians get 2 guys- Cobb and Boyd- just solid vets--- for basically nothing--- and hopefully they can add some depth and perform - the depth is rough- but I look at some other teams that the Guards are competiting against and just one injury or sustained bad performance could crush them with their limited depth.

Bibee hopefully is healthy and has been very steady. Williams looks like he is getting it figured out. Lively has somehow been solid- now add Boyd and Cobb----- and have a little depth with Allen, Cantillo and McKenzie just in case.

not a great spot to be in- I would rather have Bieber and a healthy McKenzie and a healthy Espino---- but pitching gets hurt.

no way they let Clase pitch today......if there is a save chance (do not want to jinx it)- would they let him go 5 days in a row?

he did only have 10 pitches each of the last 2 nights.

Gimenez seems to be heating up. Would be nice if him and Bo Naylor could contribute here and there.

Noel showed tonight why he is a risk-- he had some baaaaaad at bats.

Guardians had the 7 game losing streak- and still sit 4.5 games up on the Twins and 6 on the Royals.

Still an absolute bear of a schedule coming up--- but at least holding serve right now.

The cutter is a little easier on the arm I think, but even then, that’s a bit much when you factor in other throws that are happening throughout the week- long toss, BP, warm-up, etc.

Good post. I’d rather have brought back Alex Cobb than give up what we did for Trevor Rogers.

Feels like you almost need 7-8 starters to get through a year at this point, plus some extra relievers. It’s absolutely wild how many Orioles are on the IL right now.

Yeah and teams can shorten to 4 in the playoffs but you need to get their first. You can't rely on just your five starters anymore...like you said, you need 7 or 8 guys and/or some LRP's to get you through some series. BP is going to be crucial in the playoffs too.

Very true.

I almost think its closer to needing about 10 guys considering injuries, and then you get rain outs and double headers and sometimes like 20 games in 20 days, etc.

Pitching just gets hurt- it sucks but its true- its why I will be fascinated to see what the Orioles do with Burnes- he is going to want a boat load of money but pitching always gets hurt- it seems like its only a matter of time before a pitcher needs a tommy john surgery.

You just need waves and waves of starting pitching depth in the minors unless you can just spend and spend and spend like the Dodgers- and even then they had to go out and get Flaherty to help their rotation despite trading for Glasnow and giving him a ton of money and signing Yamamato for a ton of money.
