How he does it is that the Phillies lineup has been broken now for weeks. Turner is the only guy hitting in July. Lively is whale shit with mediocre stuff. He’s a KBO pitcher who is pitching over his head.

I do think he's overperforming, but I think you're being a little too dismissive. Yeah he'll likely see his ERA end up much closer to his xFIP (4.27) or FIP (4.47). Not great, but still useful. Besides, the rotation outside of Bibee/Lively has been a tire fire. Too bad they weren't in a better position to sell higher on him

I really don’t care what the numbers say. He’s fluke trash having a career couple of months.

Lewis didn't hit his usual first game bomb last night

So of course, he absolutely blasts one off Skubal in game 2.

Just please don't run and hurt your legs.

I went back to watching tape delayed rugby.

You gotta stop a baseball game to change communication devices in a pitchers hat, I gotta change the channel.

That was brutal. Jeffers broke right after

Almost as bad as the fact that the official scorer gave Vierling a hit on the most blatant error in the history of baseball

You going full @Nosferatu on me??

That geriatric fuck would rather a player get beaned in the face and have the ump call it a strike. Then have replay correct job negligence because "he's old school"

Skubal is so damn good

Youd have to absolutely blow the Tigers away with an offer but he's worth it imo. Orioles should part with anyone and chase the ring.

Anytime the Guardians lose we fucking blow a game.

Not an ideal strategy to mimic wins/losses when you're the team that's down 4.5 games.

Baez again WTF

We legit cannot win when Cleveland loses. They are about to be shutout for the 6th time in like 12 games or some shit and have lost no ground.

Phillies just gave up 2 really solid prospects for a reliever.

It is DEFINITELY a sellers market right now.

Man, 2 games from the Guardians and they don’t have an extra base hit yet. Garbage fluke trash small market lineup.

The initial reaction to the trade within the industry was that the Phillies had surrendered a significant package to obtain a rental reliever. Both Klassen and Aldegheri had nudged their way up prospect rankings with strong seasons and rival evaluators had favorable opinions on the two pitchers. The Phillies were protective of their top prospects, major-league sources said, even when discussing non-rental players in trade deadline talks. They preferred to deal from the second tier, which meant Klassen and Aldegheri.

Klassen, a sixth-round pick in the 2022 MLB draft, was not a strike-thrower in college but has evolved as a pitcher. Evaluators are split on whether his future is as a starter or reliever, but he’s made a good impression in 2024.

So has Aldegheri, who is seeking to become the first Italian-born pitcher to appear in the majors in 74 years. Evaluators like the lefty’s feel for his secondary pitches. His fastball has ticked upward to 92-94 mph. He profiles as a potential back-of-the-rotation starter. Aldegheri reached Double A earlier this month.

Klassen throws in the upper 90s and blew through A-ball en route to the Jersey Shore, where he has made five starts in High A. Aldegheri started at Jersey Shore before being bumped up to Double-A Reading. Combined, the two have totaled 198 strikeouts in 137 1/3 innings this season.

Estévez will join a Phillies bullpen that dominated in the first three months of the season and has leaked oil since. Jeff Hoffman and Matt Strahm were All-Stars and will continue to see high-leverage chances. José Alvarado has struggled in July but should pitch his way into the manager’s trusted circle. Rookie righty Orion Kerkering has top-notch stuff that has come with some command blips.

Angels totally robbed the Phillies with the O'Hoppe for Moniak/Marsh deal last year--- O'Hoppe is now one of 3 catcher in MLB with an OPS of 800+ -the others being Rutschman- who is amazing- and Perez who DH's a lot.

Estevez has been amazing this year but had a 3.p ERA and 1.5 WHIP last year...

even on the Guardians when I see guys like GAddis and Smith dominating- it usually means a correction is coming- itll be interesting to see what he does the rest of the year.
