In Vardell's defense... Square peg round hole... Beliicheck drafted a FB to play RB. And he ended up having a decent career as a FB for Barry Sanders.

William Green rings a bell...
Yeah, I guess Green can get a mention but thinking there will be much better choices (like Carter).

Have to say BB - other than lucking into Brady - has not been so good at drafting....especially early and later in career.

I'm going to disagree on the Ki-Jana Carter thing...I draw a line at the bust label here because he had some severe injuries that impacted his game. I don't think having a big injury/injuries should immediately put you in bust territory. At that time, an ACL injury was pretty much the end for skill position players. That surgery has come leaps and bounds from what it was in the late 80's and mid 90's.

I'd actually go with Trent Richardson at RB for biggest bust.
Oh, man....totally forgot about TRich. Yep...he wins for us. No clue how we got Indy to give us a #1 for him (which we squandered on Weeden).

Don't recall details around KJC injuries but agree I don't necessarily think a guy is a bust as a pick if injuries derail career. Why I wont pick Courtney Brown at DL for this. Gerard Warren another story, though.

#1 overall pick. Team traded up for him and gave up future draft stock. Carter had what, 1 - 100 yard game against Denver or something like that. Only game I can remember him actually getting a 100 yards +, and I think 1 run was like 70+ yards.

that is bust material......but he has a point factoring in the injuries IMO. Unless he was really bad for a while before them?

I think that had a lot to do with why nobody wanted to hire him. He wants full control as GM & HC.

Carter was made of glass... But he went on to play in more games than TRich did.

Also fair to point out that KJC failed his pre-draft physical due to his knee... His injury history wasn't some fluke thing. Almost every team in the league knew he was going to be injury prone. But Cincy didn't care.

May need to know about the "rules" for this. Can TRich be a bust for the Browns? 950 yards and 11 TDs as a rookie (yes, not good ypc at 3.6 but just a rookie) then plays 2 games for us year 2 before traded for a 1st rounder from Indy.

I'd say that changes things for sure....KJC it is.

Our strongest/weakest contenders are going to be Jarvis Jones, Jamain Stephens, and maybe Troy Edwards.
Neither the Steelers or Ravens draft inside the top 10 very often... So keep that in mind when putting stock into draft capital when thinking of bust status.

I don't think there are any rules... Purely up for debate. And everything is worth mentioning.

I think everyone has a different view on "bust". But like I just said, I'd be careful with putting too much stock in to draft capital in this discussion or else it will be dominated by Ohio teams lol.

Personally, I'm mostly looking at 1st Rd picks in general for each team in the division, not necessarily where they were drafted unless its 1st overall, then looking at career numbers.

we pick inside top 10 often enough....but other than Gerard Warren not sure many of our candidates are top 10 picks. Maybe Vardell, too.

Yeah it makes our mid to late 20's busts a lot less bad than top 5 or top 10 picks.

Cleveland's history of QB busts in the 1st round alone is incredible. By a technicality, the Deshaun Watson trades don't count, but it's the worst trade in NFL history.

I agree......many fans think all picks need to be studs and just not the case. For instance, is Anthony Schwartz a bad pick? I guess, but majority of 3rd rounders amount to very little or nothing at all.

I do think can call TRich a bust and despite having him a short time and trading him for a 1st after more consideration I think we should get the "credit" as the drafting team.
