Certainly is one of the biggest disappointments in Bengals history...but in terms of this excersice, I still feel that T-Rich was worse...I mean, this guy was the next King Henry...and dude looked like...charlie brown.
I think TRich havong one good season and being moved for a 1st rounder might give him the edge.....but not like I'd kill the choice of TRich as the "winner" here.

And can we all make fun of Bill B. selecting a Full Back in 1992 with the 9th overall pick for the Browns? If we are going to add in organizational failures as part of the vetting process...while Vardell wasn't really a bust (he did pave the way for Sander's future 2K season)...drafting a FB outside of the 1950's is criminal malpractice...why not just go up to the podium and say "We've decided to forfeit our pick this year"?

Good, Lord.
Billy B was a god awful GM here (or at least talent evaluator). Biggest "crime" might have been having Warren Sapp falling in his lap.

Unfortunately instead of taking advantage of his good fortune he threw a fit because Jets took his guy - Kyle Brady. He proceeded to trade down to take a bad special teams guy....Craig Powell.

Still waiting on some to weigh in... @dtgold88 @Pure Steel @thedddd

Or we can just go with TRich.
Geez I totally missed this whole conversation but after reading up it is the biggest busts in the AFC north by position?

Anyway Trent Richardson for me even though Carter was a major bust but that to me was more due to injuries. I think Richardson just wasn't NFL capable.

I am amazed though Tim Worley or Willie Green didn't make the list?

Hands down my pick would have been Worley. 7th overall pick and flat out sucked.

I guess if all the way back to Willis Adams for Browns might as well add Steve Holden. I barely remember him though.....unless I think of anyone else my vote goes to John Ross. 2nd option if we go 2 is Edwards.

And we missed a QB option (though due to longevity likely doesn't beat out Smith)......Mike Phipps.

Think you can swap Verser for Warrick...

I probably go...Warrick then Edwards...but if we can do 2 slots for WR (because what offense doesn't use at least 2 WR's)...These are probably my top 2 right off the bat...

Troy Edwards is a strong showing for Pittsburgh. 13th overall. 3 year career here, with a good first year, and pitiful on from that. He was behind Ward and Plaxico in a run first offense. But he was still just bad, and was outplayed by Bobby Shaw for 3rd WR. He was available, not injured. He just couldn't crack the relevant lineup.

John Ross... was a china doll.
Verser seems to have been trash by his stats, didn't know the guy.
Same with Willis Adams.

But those are both looking back VERY far.

Perriman didn't live up to the 1st round selection, but he had some decent years if he was a mid rounder. Bust for Baltimore for sure, but his career wasn't a complete waste.

Ross was certainly a bust - even when healthy, he was not good.

However, considering the hype around Warrick, I probably lean Warrick over Ross for the Bengals.

A few names to consider at receiver:

- Peter Warrick. Not a terrible career, but certainly not worthy of a top 5 pick.
- Braylon Edwards. One very good season. Tons of drops.
- Limas Sweed. Second rounder, so not a huge loss, but he was terrible.
- Travis Taylor. Okay player but not worth a top 10 pick.

Going through Steeler history here are a few 2nd rounders that all blew.

Wayne capers
Will Blackwell
Limas Sweed
Chase Claypool

1st Round
Troy Edwards takes it.
Charles Johnson wasn't good either but he stuck around long enough and got a SB ring.

For the Browns (or would that be the ravens?) Steve Holden has to be in there. 1st round pick in '73 and never had 62 career Recs and was out of the league by 26.

Definitely don't recall him being drafted but remember his name (earliest memories are 1975 of the NFL)
