Was traveling over the weekend. Happened to have ESPN on the television (haven't watched the network shows in years - just live games).... Sounds like the talking heads are right back on the Ravens bandwagon after the Jackson signing. Claiming they are among the best 5 teams in the league.... Probably better for the Bengals for everyone to write them off - They play better when they aren't the favorite.

Ravens had another good draft. No reason to not think they'll contend with the Bengals.

Of course they'll contend. It's hard to think of when they don't. It's just been a rapid turnaround from folks questioning whether Jackson was even worth big money to declaring that they are now a favorite. The news cycle moves quickly I suppose.

Well… how’d everyone feel about their team’s draft!?
Honestly - very good. A lot of value picks and those picks filled some gaps/depth and needs.

The DE in the 1st round was really nice. Fits exactly what the Bengals like in their DE's, was a top 20/15 guy on most draft boards, and got him at 28. Being 29th in sacks, but 13th in pressure rate - they needed another guy that could help rotate, keep guys fresh, and help finish those pressures into sacks.

Another really good DB. Fast. Big. Can cover in man.

The safety was a shock, but a glimpse into the "BPA" approach...not only that, he was one of the better cover guys at S, and now Lou's defense gets even more multiple. Hill played some CB last year. They got a solid guy in F/A. Now you add Battle. You have CTB and Awuzie and Hilton already at the 1-3 CB spots, and now you have 3 safeties that any one of them can also drop down cover low, cover high, and play some CB in mix-match schemes. Lou has to be thrilled.

I like the WR - led NCAA in catches, 2nd in yards, return guy specialist. Really fast. Can make really tough catches. Adds a speed dimension to this offense out of the slot that they don't get with Boyd.

Brown will be a solid backup RB, and will have a good chance to win that job. I had him in a lot of my PFF mock drafts.

Then Punter, WR (lottery ticket - this kid is a freak athlete, and a backup/depth DB...good 6th and 7th round picks.

Honestly - I think most of the AFCN teams had really solid drafts. I'd likely give nearly all teams an A or a B.

And because it's never too soon to talk some shit...

Charlie Jones absolutely owned Porter Jr when matched up this year: 14 targets, 12 catches, 153 yards, and 1 TD

Good to see that dominance will continue with this matchup.... ;)

Only about 50 of those yards were actually given up by Porter in that game... But you already knew about that

Interesting, but pretty good I'd say. Filled some needs, got good depth in other areas. Gonna have a lot of speed on defense
Wasn't gonna do much with 5 picks anyways (before trading back in the 7th)
I do expect them to sign a fuckton of UDFA next week lol
Not gonna lie, I was pretty upset they got Vorhees that late in the 7th... I was pounding the table for the Steelers to make a move & grab him.

He's really going to reward you guys in 2024.

I'm already dreading the endless questions about why Charlie Jones doesn't get a chance to play when he's modeling proshop gear for half the season..... Good pick and all, but there is a reason why he lasted until the 4th round.

He has special teams ability, can be a return guy, and will be WR 4. He probably won't see the field a lot but we do go 5 wide about as much as anyone with Irv Smith probably being that 5th receiver. I think he will be just fine. I really like that pick. Tons of production once he got a QB who could get him the ball.

The hype has already surpassed Auden Tate's :D
