Yep, I think we've seen in Detroit that V-mart playing hurt cannot hit like V-mart. Unfortunately, the Tigers have him under contract until he's 39 years old, so get used to him being on the DL or playing hurt ... a lot.

Victor Martinez is one of the slowest players I have ever seen play major league baseball- it amazes me he hits for the average he consistently does...you know he is not getting any cheapo's - pretty unbelievable how good of a pure hitter that guy is. Always really liked and resepcted him. He is the one guy i wish the tribe really wouldnt of let get away

Doug isn't right very often, but he got this right. Another great managing move by Ausmus. As doug said often, early in the season, Ausmus is doing a fine job as manager of the Tigers.

Especially left handed. Dude hits against the shift with a normal person reverse speed down the line.

Minny put the shift on Miggy last night. It worked out for em as he grounded right to short. But that isn't advisable.

Tends to happen a lot with teams that are in first place. The 1968 Tigers were known as the "cardiac kids" because of all their dramatic, late-inning comeback wins. They won 40 games by taking the lead in the 7th inning or later, 30 of those games in their last at-bat.

Yes, when healthy, he is still one of the best. His knee has really been banged up lately. He hurt it on the bases, then was hit by a pitch on the same knee ... TWICE. He has a whopping 4 RBI since August 23. Not good production from your cleanup hitter. He really needs a couple days off.

I suppose it is fitting that Detroit's Wild Card chances will be largely in the hands of the Cleveland Indians due to the four game series the teams play next week. Another dominating performance by the Tribe, over the Tigers, as they have done all year, could sink any hopes for a Wild Card game for Detroit.

Doug is busy crunching numbers and factoring in Heart and sharpness, in order to predict the outcome of that series. Yet, as usual, his predictions will be as useless as Mark Lowe in the 8th inning of a close game.

Wont be easy with no Carrasco or Salazar and of course no Brantley....

we finally hit on some free agent signings and get some solid offense- and then half the teams core players are not even gonna be available for the playoffs. Just unfreaking real.

hope a rotation of Kluber, Bauer, Tomlin, Clevinger is enough- but i have serious doubts.
