if they were closer to the end zone -- I'd agree. For some reason, having Ruddock take the snap and run 40 yards backwards doesn't seem feasible.
Hindsight is 20/20, but it was a normal football play. All he had to do was catch the snap and the game was over. MSU wasn't blocking the punt. He dropped it and nothing changes that.
