Some luck, some of it just has to do with the very unbalanced pitching staff. For instance, in a 9-2 game, it's a context specific situation that allows for Yost to burn a likely ERA/FIP damaging inning for notoriously HR prone Ian Kennedy. Probably a good move knowing the Ventura suspension is looming and you don't want any more innings out of this BP than it already chews. Still nets a 2-R HR.

Bottom line is they need Duffy, Ventura, and their offense in general to pick it up or else there's a strong likelihood they'll mill the playoffs outright. I'm honestly very pleasantly surprised they are in 1st place despite some really horrendous injuries to key players

I liked Fuentes a lot (as a 4th OF'er) based on scouting reports claiming he was a solid defender. Probably more than Orlando who I am not really a fan of- but this has not been a good audition for him out in the field as of late.
