It's early, but the Twins non-Duffey starters are comparable to the 2003 Tigers' ERA+ wise.

Not sure of all that goes into ERA+, but I know in 2003, Comerica Park still had it old dimensions, and it was REALLY difficult to hit a home run to straightaway left field or left-center. They moved the fences in about 20 feet in 2005.

Positively Twins-esque play by Paulo Orlando there. He's been pretty poor defensively...
I turned to the Wife and said, 'well, there's the first runs given up as a result of Gordo being out', i.e.- Dyson would have been in RF.

But Paulo is hitting .406!

Twins jump out to a 3 - 0 lead then they suddenly realize, hey we are the Twins... Royals score 5 in the 4th...

Royals, Tigers, and Indians on fire and the White Sox flailing. I don't know who to root against when these teams are playing each other at this point. This division is turning just as expected.

The Royals are going to be pretty bad the next week or two if they roll out the lineup they did in this last series.

Beg to differ. Gordon was a liability batting .206, best to let him sit. Orlando, Cain, and Perez are all hot as Hoz cools off a bit. Dyson gets the job done, gets on base, steals them and plays terrific defense with a great arm, and Merrifield sure looks the part to me. I see no problems.

Congrats to you Shark fans.

Gives me faith the Lions can make a Super Bowl.

I have Gordo Nation tickets for tonight.... no Gordo and probably going to get rained out. This is depressing.

Fair point on Gordon- but his wRC+ was actually still higher than Dyson's.

Orlando and Merrifeld both have babips above 440. Orlando's career babip is around 330, while Merrifeld has sat around 300 in the minors (though maybe that'd jump over a bigger sample with the added 20 pounds?) which is begging for regression. The other shoe is going to drop with that, they can't hide slumps with a couple players going berserk forever. What I will say is Merrifeld looks better than Infante does offensively and defensively just for the eyetest- so that's a plus when push comes to shove eventually. Looks like he might stick in a Brock Holtish role.
