4400+ posts in a month... in the offseason. Not bad.

I've seen enough here. Might be a good idea to dump this thread and start a new one. (Although I have my doubts about any thread Vice being involved in can "maintain" for long.)

Anyone else find it amusing that the Indians and White Sox decided to plug obvious holes in their lineup with garbage bargain signings like 37 year old Jimmy Rollins at SS for the White Sox and 37 yr old Uribe at 3rd for the Indians?

How can a fan look at those moves and take an owner seriously when he says he is dedicated to fielding the best team possible?

I am actually really surprised that Ian Desmond didn't sign with the White Sox... He was a perfect fit there. He might end up not playing until mid season to sign when there is no longer a draft pick attached.

Hi Vice. When I read your story about your secret website were you would get together with others to "plot" against the Royals posters....any doubt that your "life story" might be true, flew out the window. Your actions and comments over the last couple of days have given me a clear view of just what you are. I am sorry...but it would be impossible for me to discuss baseball seriously with you now. I see a disturbed person when I see your name, and humoring you by talking baseball would feel degrading. I would like to say that you have my pity...but you don't. (I am sure there are others who will entertain you - some probably hoping for the inevitable train wreck.)

Not sure if Rollins can be any worse than Alexei Ramirez was last year.

If Rollins hits .225 or has an OBP of over .280 I would be surprised. To be honest... I would be surprised if he is on the team in July. At least Ramirez could still field... Rollins needs to retire.

you're hours late in letting us know that the Tiger's signed Casey McGahee to a minor league contract.

He's old as **** though

Yeah... because

A) he is minor league depth not actually a rotation player...
B) he is 4 years younger than either Rollins or Uribe
C) he most likely will never see a game in Detroit

Why the fuck would I waste anyone's time talking about every minor league signing teams have? You forgot the Tigers signed broke ass Bobby Parnell to a minor league contract to.. Should I be celebrating that?

The funny part about the Uribe signing is.. McGee could out hit him while playing adequate defense at 3rd... Yet the Indians chose to give a 37 yr old broken ass old man a $5mil contract instead of signing McGee to a minor league deal.

I dont think anyone is claiming Uribe is going to take the Indians to the world series. far from it- but he does represent an upgrade over last year and is a great clubhouse guy- this is what Buster Olney wrote about the signing- but you know more than Buster Olney.

Under-the-radar addition of Juan Uribe could provide big boost for Indians
The 24-year-old Giovanny Urshela played his first games in the big leagues last year and did a good job defensively but had a .608 OPS in 288 plate appearances over 81 games. He had 15 extra-base hits and hit into nine double plays, leaving the Indians open to possible upgrades -- and Uribe, with his power and experience, could be better. In 119 games last year, Uribe batted .253 with 14 homers and an OPS of .737. In 2014, Uribe batted .311 for the Dodgers. Uribe bats right-handed, and the Indians could use more right-handed balance in their lineup: Jason Kipnis is a left-handed hitter, Michael Brantley hits left-handed, Lonnie Chisenhall hits left-handed.

But the Indians also talked internally about what Uribe could mean for their clubhouse, and in particular, for 22-year-old shortstop Francisco Lindor, who had an excellent first showing in the big leagues last year. Uribe has a long-established reputation for providing a strong positive clubhouse presence, his professionalism conveyed through an effective sense of humor -- the sort of personality that can help a team, or a teammate, get through a long season. Lindor will inevitably have a stretch when he’ll struggle, when he’ll be trying to find some equilibrium through a slump. Maybe Uribe can help Lindor, or reinforce the need for consistent defensive focus. Or maybe Indians players will benefit from a Uribe laugh, as they navigate the challenging AL Central. After Uribe got hurt late last season, Mets manager Terry Collins spoke about how beneficial he believed it was to have Uribe around the team even when he wasn’t playing.

I thought it was funny that the Tigers signed a 39 yr old Nathan as well.

It needed to come out so you and others could see him for what he is. A pompous sissy pants with Rain Man like qualities regarding Tigers facts/stats.

I'm not sure there were a lot of options available for the Indians.

As far as being amused, I think that's relative to one's perspective. To wit, I'm sure you don't find it nearly as amusing as I do that the Tigers spent $2.2MM per win last year - but the good news is, they got a hell of a deal on losses!
