The funny part about the Uribe signing is.. McGee could out hit him while playing adequate defense at 3rd... Yet the Indians chose to give a 37 yr old broken ass old man a $5mil contract instead of signing McGee to a minor league deal.

Isn't that what you are supposed to be doing when you are the favorite to win the division? What part of signing a 37 yr old turd to a lineup that has major holes on a team with the best pitching in the AL sounds like a good idea when you are trying to win a pennant?

I'm not sure there were a lot of options available for the Indians.

As far as being amused, I think that's relative to one's perspective. To wit, I'm sure you don't find it nearly as amusing as I do that the Tigers spent $2.2MM per win last year - but the good news is, they got a hell of a deal on losses!

When there aren't a lot of options out there... it doesn't make it better to give $5mil to a 37 yr old that shouldnt be a full time player... on a team trying to win the WS.
