Not sure if you have followed along but holy crap this started a fire storm on Twitter (I will never call it X). It is so hard to follow cause lots of cursing and anger but I can’t tell if people are mad at Jerry, ownership or Levine cause it seems like all 3 are taking arrows. It appears the Locked on boys are trying to save their boy by calling out Levine but I can’t tell.

Am I tried of hearing his wornout bullshit? Absolutely.
Every time he speaks the fans get more and more pissed off.
I get the feeling there's going to be a lot of pissed off fans attending the games and plenty of boos getting rained down on the club.

Well there is more. He makes me feel so grateful to be Mariners fan...

This is the full real quote from Jerry Dipoto so there's no further confusion:

"I'll go back to what we did at the 2018, headed into the 2019 season. You know, at that point we decided we were going to step back, rebuild our organization, and set ourselves up to be a sustainable contender. And for two years, we rebuilt our roster and in the four years since, we have built a sustainable, competitive roster. We're not growing our payroll at a rate that is, I guess, that is acceptable to the listening public in some way. We have grown it year over year, you know, this is now since 2021, we're one of just two teams in Major League Baseball who's grown our payroll each year. That's unique. We've just not grown it as fast as people would like us to grow it, and we've grown it in a different way than people want us to grow, at least that's my sense. I think the expectation is that we'll go and pour it out on free agents; our preference is to develop from within, to invest in our own players, and to build that way. We're not working on a low payroll [laughs]. We're working on one of the largest payrolls in team history. We continue to look to invest in our players and the true answer to that question is somewhere in between. We work on a budget, like 29—or at least, 28 teams work on, and we try to make the best decisions that we can within the parameters of those budgets, and we try to focus on what believe is the right way to build a sustainable team, which is through draft and development."

I have but confused why people are mad at Levine? He actually pokes the bear on his show when others kiss ass.

Cause that robust .220 avg scares the hell out of MLB pitchers. Jerry on up are the dumbest fucking people in baseball. Yes, bigger fucking morons than the A's FO. The cost of 2 FA's that produce would be paid for with the extra revenue from the playoffs. I hate all of them.

This stands out to me more than anything else of his BS. 'Sustainable team' has nothing to do with a Championship team or even a playoff team. I said this years ago. Best thing for a GM of a mediocre team is a competing team and not a playoff team. Once you make the playoffs, it becomes a standard and when you no longer meet the standard you lose your job. When you compete year after year, you can hold that forever. Attendance is always high. Sales are always high. But expenses are always manageable. It is a no risk reality. It is perfect for them and Jerry has perfected it for a decade. Fucker!

Sadly, it is not. 2 FA's on the moderate end is $10M each. Playoffs don't make them that much money. If they went from 15K attendance to 30K attendance because of the playoff push, then they would make up the money. But we average the 30K already so no need for them to spend the extra money. Take winning out of it because that does not matter to money men.

I'll go one further. Spend on 2 FA's, start out hot and in first place you'd have almost a maxed out stadium for almost the entire season plus maxed out stadium for playoffs and tv revenue the farther they go.

They averaged 31,553 last season. I get your thought, but they are winning without having to win.

Which is why I hope they tank out of the get and get these fans to realize it's only about the money too them and not winning.

I want Logan Gilbert to go 33-0 and the rest of the team to go 0-129.

Ok, that makes sense. I don’t care to really look into things it was just weird seeing a few fans and the locked on boys appearing to go after Levine. But too be fair I won’t listen to the interview because I just can’t listen to Jerry anymore. Reading the transcripts of him is bad enough but hearing his condescending tone pisses me off. I can’t remember where I saw it, maybe on here, but he talks like he is a GM who revolutionized the game and is a first ballot HOFer
