I think many prefer basketball first and then football.This is not meant to be any kind of political statement, as I am certainly not a fan of affirmative action or quotas, but I think it is exciting that the Rangers will have two black young men make the club as pitchers who deserve to make the club. I am sure it will energize and grow our fan base and it is good for the sport in general.
It is a shame that young black boys have lost interest in baseball over the years. Some of our most exciting prospects used to be guys like Bump Wills, Billy Sample, Darren Oliver and Oddibe McDowell. I hope the sport will continue to grow in popularity within the black community.
