Adam Morris thinks Tyler Phillips is a possibility
He made a good point re Duran is looking now like forever a full time sub. Haggerty has to be gone now
For others, here is what Adam Morris had to say:

The lack of a decision on the bullpen is interesting, as it suggests that the team may be scouring the waiver wire or looking at possible trade options. I mentioned Tyler Phillips being designated for assignment the other day as someone who might hold some appeal as a long man/swing man out of the bullpen, particularly early on for the Rangers, given the length they likely need. It wouldn’t surprise me if the final roster includes a reliever who isn’t currently in the organization.

I am wondering if there is a trade in the works to trade one of the offseason bullpen acquisitions in order to make room for Church.

From Evan Grant:

Manager Bruce Bochy also allowed that it’s possible Wyatt Langford could get some time in center field, too.

From Evan Grant::

While Carter has acknowledged this spring that the back will require regular maintenance, he’s indicated that it has not been an issue all spring. Bochy pointed to Carter playing nine innings in back-to-back games at the end of the club’s time in Arizona as evidence that the back is healthy.

“I’m feeling good right now, feeling ready to go,” Carter said of his health. “I mean, I’m more than capable of playing right now.

“Obviously, I need to play good. I’m going to use this as kind of a mental break, getting away from everything and just kind of getting back to the way I know I can be. I know I can help this team win. So I’m going to take advantage of the opportunity to have more of a stress free environment to get back to what I know I can do.”

There has been discussion about pairing up Leiter with an Opener on Friday. I hope that doesn't happen. I have never been a fan of using an Opener.

I wonder if Duran is up due to injury tweaks of Jung and Seager

From Shawn McFarland:

Kumar Rocker's first inning went:

Single
Strikeout
Walk
Strikeout
Strikeout

It's a scoreless inning. His fastball was 96-97 mph and his curveball was used for two strikeouts.

I tell you what, it would be hard for anyone to convince me Alejandro Osuna doesn't deserve to be on this team.

If we had just traded Leody in the offseason, I think Osuna would begin the season in CF for us.

This is not meant to be any kind of political statement, as I am certainly not a fan of affirmative action or quotas, but I think it is exciting that the Rangers will have two black young men make the club as pitchers who deserve to make the club. I am sure it will energize and grow our fan base and it is good for the sport in general.

It is a shame that young black boys have lost interest in baseball over the years. Some of our most exciting prospects used to be guys like Bump Wills, Billy Sample, Darren Oliver and Oddibe McDowell. I hope the sport will continue to grow in popularity within the black community.

Rocker has star potential and he may get extra exposure due to his family and color
I hope Church does well
Any other blacks in our system of note?

Side ire I guess church benefited from the Murphy injury
Glad we have a guy with velo

I don't know of any others off hand, but it took me awhile to find out that Church was black.

Ian Moller is, but he will never hit enough to make the big leagues.
