Soler is a weird acquisition for the Braves. They already have a full time DH in Marcell Ozuna (probably the best in MLB right now). Someone with a poor glove is going to be patrolling the Braves' outfield.

And I had a weird thought - is it possible that both FZ AND Melvin are gone by the World Series?

Now bring me Holliday for Snell and Mozzicato for Chappy and a sack of baseballs for Forto.

A but under the radar as a high schooler in Puerto Rico, Ceballos first extended his amateur career at San Jacinto Junior College, where he raked for two years and got taken on Day 3 of the 2022 Draft by the Angels. He decided to head west to Oregon and climbed to the third round when the Braves took him on the heels of his .333/.426/.643 line with 18 homers for the Ducks. He continued to hit well, albeit without that kind of power (.300/.440/.375) during his 14-game pro debut.
Since his San Jac days, Ceballos has shown a knack for making contact. In 2023, he improved his approach considerably, drawing a lot more walks, which helped him get to his power more, mostly to his pull side, and he absolutely punishes fastballs. The plate discipline carried over during his pro debut as well, and he should be able to drive the ball to all fields.
Ceballos has a strong arm and decent hands, both of which give him a shot to stay at third, which is where he played during his debut. His lack of range, however, have some evaluators thinking he might need to move to first, and there’s always the intriguing possibility of trying him behind the plate, where he played some during his Draft League stint in 2022.

Great. Slow. No power. Not athletic. Good arm, little range. Need more like this. :heh:

Do not understand Matzek. ERA approaching 10. 33 y/o. On the IL. Puzzling.
He is part of our cost, not part of our get.

Cant really say I like this trade. Cabal Los looks like a lotto ticket, no more. And Soler has actually been hitting quite well recently. I guess this opens the DH spot for Lucky?

Not thrilled so far. But I guess this is a draft position trade. Not sexy, but it helps in the long run…

I guess…
