Hands down...

I would probably take a 3rd. But maybe not.

We are a little down on DK but he's still a very talented receiver. And ultimately he wasn't the reason why the offense floundered so often.

Watching the football this weekend, what was blatantly obvious is that good teams have good OLs. The Eagles have 3 Pro Bowlers on their OL

Who was the last Seahawk OL to even be named a Pro Bowler, even as an alternate? Duane Brown?

Who's watching this WAS/TB wildcard game?

Commanders can't run the ball to save their lives, but they're keeping the play calling creative and still moving the ball down the field.

This is the kind of thing we've been starved of. How do our WR screens not go for 20 yards? Because our outside blockers have been shit.

Just an observation.

I'd say no to a 3rd. He's coming into his prime so if can't get a 2nd or a 1st than I say keep him and give him a contract.

I probably agree with you on this. Sure, an extra 3rd rounder would be nice but we would also have a very thin WR corps with basically just JSN, assuming that TL leaves but even if he doesn't he's nowhere close to what he was. The odds of getting a replacement level player in the 3rd seem pretty small.

I think thats what theyll end up doing, along with a geno extension unfortunately.

Yes, plus I don't want this team getting involved in tagging DK. 2nd 1st or new contract is best idea.

Agree with Flyer that TL most likely isn't coming back and a 3rd for DK is meh. If JS does that than he needs to have a good FA WR in mind opposite JSN.

I meant i think they extend him. My guess is very little personnel change outside of lockett, noah fant and who starts at LG.

I see. I still think that's option 3 if option 1 and 2 don't pan out.

As a general principle this organization does not make a lot of changes in the offseason unless it absolutely has to.

Honestly, I think that the Hawks need to make a few specific changes to turn us into a 12-13 win team. Specifically LG and OL depth. Address those 2 things in the offseason, while keeping the few FAs we have, and this team will be a lot better next year.

I know you favor the "blow it all up" approach but there is no way that the Seahawks will do that. In fact no team that consistently has a winning record will do that. Hell, the Steelers have had 15 years of the same thing and they keep running it back.

Yes no sense of urgency

I think thats optimistic. the niners will come back strong next year which is a shame because this season was a huge missed opportunity. The rams won the division by default.

How has running it back worked out for them? They'd have been better off tanking a year to get a QB.
Instead they draft Qbs like picket and mason rudolph, sign washed up dudes like wilson. Sure they win 10 games and make the playoffs but lose in the WC round.
Should steelers fans celebrate that?
If next year the seahawks win 12 games and go one and done in the playoffs, why should we be ok with that?

I disagree. Stability matters in the NFL.

Meh. I think the Niners missed their window. Too many of their guys are on the wrong side of their career at this point.

The NFL isn't the NBA. You can't just tank in hopes that one player can turn your team around. Sure, there is an element of luck involved in hitting on a couple of players that become game changers. But that is true for all teams.

With the way MacDonald didn’t hesitate to make player changes during the season, I see a lot more changes during the off-season than what you stated… specifically on offense… he can’t be happy with the way the offense performed this year

I've made my position known, but to reiterate: I don't wanna trade him because I'm down on DK or because I think he doesn't have considerable talent because it's plain as day he does.

But here are our options with him as he goes into the final year of his deal:
  1. Let him play it out. Cap hit is a couple finger-guns fines shy of $32M, then he's a UFA after the season, and he'll be gone in free agency with only a 2027 comp pick coming back our way.
  2. Extend. I can't imagine the cost of what this would be, and it's going to tie up resources that we need to use on more critical areas of the team. JSN has surpassed him on the WR depth chart anyway in terms of targets/catches.
  3. Trade. Get whatever you can, avoid the big paydays associated with both options above, use the trade compensation to help right-size where we have invested resources on this roster.
To me, it's a clear and easy choice. Even if all we could get for DK is a 4th rounder, I would do it. He was the very last pick of the 2nd round in 2019 and has been productive for all 6 seasons in the league. That is a great ROI all by itself, not to mention whatever you could get coming back in a trade.

This is exactly it. On top of that, look at the mistakes the QBs were making. They were largely due to playing from behind (desperation mode) or constant pressure. Help Geno in those areas, and I think who we have at WR matters a bit less. In the 2014 season, we had a good offense and went to the SB with our top 4 WRs all being UDFAs. The D is getting better under Macdonald. Beef up the OL and support Geno with a run game, and everything starts to fall into place. We don't need a $40M/yr WR to make the playoffs and/or become contenders. To the contrary, spending that much $ on WR will make it more difficult to get the parts of the team right that are presently holding us back.

Trade DK for whatever we can get.

mediocrity sets in when stability becomes more important than winning championships

you could be right, but shanahan is a good coach and i feel like they will figure it out and come back improved next year.

so you will be satisfied if they win 12 games and go 0-1 in the playoffs next year?

To add to my last post above about DK, I suppose there is a 4th option: cut him. A pre-June 1st designation carries a dead cap hit of $21M, which is just shy of $11M less than what it would cost to have him on the team at current terms.
