That makes sense, but I think that's a bit too much to pay for a guy having a crap year.
Lucky has dropped his pants and shown everyone his warts, though. He has lost a lot of trade value as well.

End of the day, barring injury, I doubt either’s performance this year would really affect any actual trade. Bichette would be traded as a star and Lucky would be traded as a high-ceiling prospect.

Agreed, so it comes down to how much of a pitching prospect you want to give up.

I'd go with anybody but Whiz.

Pick up Lopez from the Mets. He actually gives a shit and his numbers are okay.

That was my thought this AM. Then I looked at his BBRef page.

No teams ever wants anything to do with him once they get to know him.

On the surface, I say “pass”.

Haven’t heard anything which is probably good. I haven’t checked the team website lately for their injury updates but I assume no news is good news.
Hope so. I’m interested to see what he has left

Let’s call this the Four-Question Test and apply it to every free agent next offseason.

1. Are they 27 years old or younger?
2. Are they looking for a one-year deal with player options?
3.Are they willing to sign for a maximum guarantee of four years?
4. Are they literally one of the most compelling and talented players to ever play the sport?

Answer no to all four, and they’re not going to be Giants. Simple. Not until they answer yes to one of them.

Do you know how rare it is to find a free agent 27 years old or younger, other than the guys that get non-tendered who are not even arb eligible yet?

It's a four part test. If you get four "no"s then we will not sign the FA. For example, these are all FAs next year:

Max Scherzer: no, maybe, yes, no -- Giants might be interested.
Soto -- Yes, no, no, yes -- Giants will be interested
Teoscar -- No, No, No, No -- Giants won't be interested.

Now, of course there are other factors (lineup fit, clubhouse fit, etc)

But I think the test is sound.

This is my point. Lee was one. Remember, you only need one "yes" here.
