harden was not your problem this year.

In fact, one he got his sea legs without having TC your starting 5 one of the top 3 or so in the entire league.

The rest of the roster sucked though
No.

I’m not referring to his play last season.

I hate watching him play PERIOD.

I can’t stand that foul hunting fuckery

I have nothing against him as a human being.

I simply despise him as a basketball player.

That doesn’t change simply because he plays for the team I root for.

Whose gonna blink?

I’d give him that money if Morey can get a deal done with his 4 picks for Lauri or Mikal, Melton cap hold, Batum Lowry resign. Fill
In the rest with minimum guys. I think the hardest piece is the Lauri or Mikal deal. But if they aren’t there, Paul George can’t happen and they need to use the cap better around Maxey Embiid.

You will need to lose that cap hold to close both those deals

Nope. Maxey cap hold is only 13 and they can bail on Paul Reed’s money. Lauri is only 18 and Bridges 23. Sixers can take on PG13 extension and maintain a cap hold on Maxey and Melton and still take on the trade salary.

I just heard Bobby Marks say a trade for Murray would hard cap the Lakers.

I didn’t care enough to listen to the specifics. But he spells it out on YouTube.

I don't think that's accurate, and a lot depends on what DLo and Lebron do anyway.

Aggregating salaries creates the hard cap

Cause this cba is dumber than forest gump

Only if the trade is completed after the start of the new league year in July I believe. They can get a deal done this week and avoid that.

I mean, even if the Hawks draft Risacher, they don’t have to trade Murray and most definitely don’t have to trade him to the Lakers.

I think the trash for treasure days are over.

*whispers*

Unless you are OKC.

I think the Hawks are still at the "Trae OR Murray" point, one will go. Whether or not the Lakers can get him will depend on how much each side values those picks. If it takes two, that means 17 and 2029 if they are trying to get the deal done before the new league year (when 2031 becomes available).

Great point.

Gotta look towards the future with the new cap rules.

This isn’t a don’t wanna pay to keep Durant/Westbrook/Harden/Ibaka core together type situation.

It would literally be impossible to pay everyone their worth, while surrounding them with a competent supporting cast.

That’s why I hope they tweak the rules for teams that have built the right way.

Maybe by not penalizing them so heavily to pay to keep the guys they drafted?

I remember that bing discussed in the past.

"Right way" isn't so concrete. I'm sure league isn't big on tanking and selling off all your assets for all the picks you can get.

If it were any other player, for any other roster, I would be like heeeeeellllllll nah.

But it’s Lebron and it’s the Lakers who paid Kobe for his farewell tour.

So…

*shoulder shrug *

It's actually less than what he would get from opting in and then extending. For whatever that's worth lol...

The Thunder finished 1st out west.

They were in the play in mix the year prior.

Not sure how you consider that “tanking”.

Matter of fact, the year that they “ sold “ off George and Westbrook, they actually made the playoffs.

They bottomed out and sold off everything that wasn't nailed down. Not the ideal path for league balance.

You don’t think Bobby Marks is accurate?

Okay…lol

Everything depends on timing and where the Lakers' roster stands when the deal is offered/accepted. I've seen so many interpretations of what the new CBA allows or won't allow that it's tough to sort through.

Hell, the Fanspo trade machine has the Lakers as a second apron team for no good reason, lol.

He’s gonna return the investment.

So, you live with it.

Exactly. Lakers cater to their stars even when you don't take into account the money that rolls in when these elite players are on the roster. Keeps that positive impression to entice the next star FA to follow after Lebron.

It helps it go down easier knowing he's still playing at an All-NBA level. Now given his age, I won't be shocked at all if one day it falls off a cliff for him but its fine. I was against them re-signing Kobe to the max for a couple reasons 1) he coming off multiple bad injuries so you knew he wouldn't be the same given his age and 2)Literally no other team was gonna max him. They could have signed him for 15 to 18 mil per (still higher than what others would have paid imo) and still got the deal done. Lebron though, defensive slowdown aside, is still pretty much Lebron.
Yeah, Bron is playing at a level unlike any other 39yo I can remember.

Anybody?
