C'mon....you're a coach right?

You should know about offensive philosophy. Which is what Redick looks like he will be changing with the Lakers. The Lakers need shooters.

We were 8th in 3 % last season.

But 24th in makes and 28th in attempts. Similar to the Suns and the reason they got bounced early.

Adding Tent or Kennard to the bench since it appears we will be keeping Russell (at least till the deadline if we move him).

Trent made 39%. Kennard made 45%.

Russell made 42%.

Hachimura made 42%.

Bron made over 40%.

Reaves made 37%

We drafted a shooter in Knecht.

The Warriors changed the game. The Lakers have to get with the times or be left behind.
Trent Jr or Kennard would be easier gets and fill a need.

DeRozan isn’t as bad a fit as Westbrook.

But it probably would have been clunky.

You probably would have needed to deal Austin/Gabe.

Demar replaces the offense. But he isn’t much more than salvageable on the defensive end and that’s being generous.

Yes.

I have coached.

When you have an opportunity to add a difference making player you do it.

DeRozan is not Russ. He is a smart and efficient bucket getter.

Russ needs the ball and he is neither smart nor efficient.

Any good coach is going to build their offensive system around the talent and skill sets on the roster.

DeRozan isn’t the perfect compliment for Fox and Sabonis either.

But you know what?

He will make them better.

You are not right here.

And no, they don’t need to follow the Warrior blueprint because they don’t have Steph and Klay.

They need to create their own that works with LeBron and AD.
DeRozan was a horrible acquisition for them because he doesn’t translate as a complimentary player in the modern NBA. He can’t defend his position and he can’t shoot from distance so he can’t space the floor. In fact, he’s going to get in the way. Sabonis likes to operate as a facilitator in which DeRozan has to work to maximize his mid range. He’s a minus for Sabonis. And now DeRozan’s cover can sag in the lane to defend Fox drive and finish/ drive and kick.

This screams “Let’s acquire a name that has become a depressed asset to sell to our fanbase that we’re moving forward.”

The Sixers couldn’t navigate with his cap hold.

Morey was absolutely right in the way this new CBA would play out. The role player market is wonky as fuck. You have a role player like OG get $40 million a year. Or you have comparable guys who can give you defense and 13-14 a game to be the 4th option for 3-5 million a year.

Not enough teams have access to the midlevel there are 13 teams now hardcapped by the first apron and 4 more hard capped by the 2nd apron.

I was thinking Lowry, Marcus Morris Sr, and RoCo for vet minimums. Now I’m getting greedy. I am actually thinking there’s a chance Gary Trent Jr wants to rehabilitate around Maxey/Embiid/PG gravity with a familiar face in Nurse who got the best out of him. If not him, there will be someone else really good for the vet minimum.

Morey haters need to put some respect on his name.
What the 6ers really need is to trade Embiid to the Wolves. I will let you pick KAT or Gobert!

No, but the Lakers also needed to land another good player.

They failed to do that.

Klay would have been a better fit.

DeRozan would have been a good fallback.

failing to make a significant move was not an option for the Lakers.

DD is not Russ. It is a bad comp.

Demar is not a good use of trade assets for the Lakers, which is why they never made an official offer. $25M per over three years takes two of their 3 sizable tradeable salaries (4 if you include Vando), leaving them with limited opportunities to improve at PG (assuming Vincent is one of the two contracts, if not DLo as well) or center for that matter.

They're looking for 3/D improvements to their roster. He doesn't provide either 3s or D really. If they could've gotten him with the MLE (basically free money from Lebron's contract), sure.

No trade is better than a bad trade.

When Daryl Morey takes over the team he has rotten contracts in Horford, Josh Richardson, Ben Simmons, and Tobias Harris. Additionally, Doc Rivers was hired 2-3 weeks before he was hired. He inherited Doc as well.

Time will tell if the value decisions and player assessments he’s made pan out. However, this guy’s execution has been masterful. The Sixers finally have the right kind of group around Embiid:
1. They have a playoff style coach that employs unique defensive schemes
2. They have a well conceived Big 3 with Embiid, a high energy guard you can play pick and roll and pick and pop with. You have a 3 and D wing. Both guys can shoot the 3 at a 38-40% clip.
3. They are rounding out the rest of the group with wings who are long and can shoot.

Of course, it all comes down to whether or not Embiid can stay healthy. That being said, Morey has done his job.

The day I got banned here I asked all trade Embiid people for anything that would resemble a situation where he can go and the Sixers get young players and 5-6 firsts and no one has posted anything that’s either legitimate or compelling. All you have is a bunch of people who are in a hurry to get peanuts on the dollar for a unicorn like talent.
