Two 2nd’s isn’t much to take that awful contract. Add in a 1st too
DD would have been also.Disagree. Vogel wouldn't work with him. But Ham genuinely tried to find ways to make it work. It was square peg, round hole with him. Trade never should have been made.
DD would have been also.
He's a little better shooter than RW but not enough to make a difference. And like RW he is used to having the ball but he isn't a PG. Would have been a little better than RW but not a lot.
DD would not be that much better of an upgrade, a slight one IMO.DeRozan isn’t the right fit.
But it wouldn’t be nearly as bad as Russ.
First because DeRozan isn’t a 1 and he isn’t running the offense.
2nd because DeRozan is actually a better shooter than Russ at this stage of his career.
3rd because DeRozan isn’t known for doing mind numbingly dumb things with the ball at the worst possible moment.
And 2 of those is why I said DD would be better.

Still a big mid range guy. Career wise, DD is 29.6% on 3's and RW is 30.4%.
If Redick's plan is to modernize the offense and shoot 40-45 3's.....DD was not the right fit.
Looks like Rob is trying to move a couple smaller contracts to teams that have salary cap space and sign Gary Trent Jr. Or maybe Luke Kennard as a backup option. No, but the Lakers also needed to land another good player.
They failed to do that.
Klay would have been a better fit.
DeRozan would have been a good fallback.
failing to make a significant move was not an option for the Lakers.

A shooter.
Not sure what you are arguing here. I already said he would have been an upgrade but he was not going to make us a top 6 team in the stacked WC. The Lakers still would have been a 7 or 8 seed in the WC.And those guys won’t help the Lakers nearly as much as an efficient 20 per game scorer like DeRozan would have.
Your analysis here is way too basic.
When the Lakers won, yes they had a few shooters.
But they also surrounded LeBron with generally good all around basketball players like Rondo, KCP and Caruso.
The current roster lacks talent beyond the top 2.

Plus, we did not have the money to sign him. He wanted more than the MLE.

Convenient. That is what I am arguing.
I disagree with that.
The Lakers run it back, stay relatively healthy and get competent coaching they should be top 6.
They add another good basketball player like DD and maybe they are competing for top 4 or 5.
What they couldn’t do is nothing.
Convenient.
Just ignore the fact we have very little money. And he wasn't settling for the MLE.
