The Lillard move.

Not saying Mitchell going to pull it.

But I do think we are going to see a lot of guys pulling this stunt in the future to try and get their money and still control their future somewhat.
Lillard played in Portland for 10 years. Not all situations are the same so impossible to try to compare. Lillard wanted to keep contending and Portland wanted to go down a different plan. Cleveland as of right now is doing the opposite.

So you got Spida demanding a trade right after signing that 3 year deal?

Okay which team will he end up with?

And exactly when will he pull a Dame and demand a trade?

Also when did the Cavs go into rebuild mode, can you post an article about it? I haven't heard anything that they're in rebuild mode.

Did I say that?

No.

I said he might do that. Not that he would.

H
Hoping Rob is working on a trade like a tweet posted earlier.
That looked like a tweet aimed to get the fans off Rob’s back.

Look…look….

He’s talking to all these teams about all these players. He’s trying!!!!

This is a results driven business.

Players sign for the contract and then request a trade.

It happens.

ok...so should no team be happy when they retain a star FA because it's possible they might later go from trying to contend to rebuild and he may ask to be traded?

Pretty sure you were among the many who believed the reports Mitchell would leave when he could. How about just say you were wrong?

correct....like any max player "might do that".
I mean it happens.

I think this situation is a bit different because the place he wanted to go, ORIGINALLY, is no longer an option.

The Knicks.

Still….

He didn’t have to sign that extension.

If the idea was to force his way out, he could have done that and then extended at his destination of choice.

If the Cavs tried to pull a Lillard and send him to the team that gave them the best return, all he would need to do is say I’m not going to sign an extension with you. So, don’t waste your assets.

He didn’t do any of those things.

So I’m inclined to believe he knows this is the best situation for him.

Can that change?

Absolutely.

But why are we talking about this the day he signed his extension?

That’s some down the road shit.

Yep pretty much this, so basically any player is never set in stone is what I am hearing. This is news to nobody.

Sure.

More likely for some than others.

More likely for Mitchell because it was widely reported he had eyes for NY.

Very high chance those reports were wrong. Especially now.

But with the Lillard precedent being set, it does open other avenues for players to try to manipulate their contract situation.

…..and players who pull the Lillard move will get fucked by their team like Lillard did.

If Spida was gonna do that, it would have been BEFORE he signed.

The fact that Lillard had so many years left on his deal is the reason his ass isn’t on South Beach right now.

The Bucks would not have pulled the trigger on that deal if Dame could walk in a year.

Donovan actually removed his leverage by extending.

My possible solution is if you sign a super max you get a de facto no trade clause for at least half the contract.

It’s the same article, from the same person.

The clue is in the way the verbiage is damn near identical.

It’s from a article on the athletic.

I posted the paragraph because not everyone here pays for access.

No.

That fucks teams and players.

Ex- As distasteful as it was, the Clippers would not have been able to film flam the Pistons into taking Blake G….lol

The Thunder would not have been able to absolutely FLEECE the Clippers with the George trade.

That is the gift that will continue to give for the next few years.

You would have gotten Anthony Davis for Arkansas Jaylin Williams.

Lakers should have Prest blocked on email, landline, mobile, Skype et al.

Never go full Clip.

For some I think they want to find a way to throw some shade on the Cavs instead of simply doing what you did and give them credit for keeping their guy, even though many have thought for years they couldn't.

By this "logic" no team should be happy about a FA signing, trade, etc.

Because, Rob talking to the Nets, Blazers, and the Jazz is the same as Rob calling Presti?

Holy shit, that's one of the more stupid posts I have read in a while....congrats?

LOL.
