Had to stop by and weigh in on this one.

Been a STH for the Preds for 2 years now, and watch a lot of Tanner. One of my favorite players, tbh. Last year, he reminded me of Wendel Clark. This year, not so much. TBL will regret this one. Oh sure, I know JBB is a hockey god and is infallible, but he swung and missed here. Jeannot is what he is, a very heavy forward who will not replicate his 24 goal season from 21-22. He is better than his 22-23 stats suggest, but not by a lot. Decent on the PK but nowhere near elite on the forecheck.

The talk in Smashville was that Jeannot could be traded and fans were not happy. I did not think the Preds should trade him, but I was expecting something like a 3rd for him. As in 1 (one) 3rd round pick. The truckload we got for him could not be passed up.

It would be truly hilarious of the Preds resigned Jeannot in the offseason and paid the RFA comp. Likely only cost them one pick, not 5 LOL

LOL...was just getting ready to post the same thing. Maybe they can deal those two seventh round picks and a 6th with a future 2025 5th to move up to the 5th round this year.

I would have liked to see less pieces in the Meier trade and a better prospect coming back, but if the Devils can make the conference finals and we end up with two firsts, it’s a pretty good return.
