At least the 40 man roster seems more stable (thus far) than last year.
With Shore, is this a case of someone else's trinket looks shinier than your own so you must get it?

I think it is probably more like walking on the beach and you see a shell on the ground, so you pick it up. After you look at it for 3.5 seconds, you realize it is broken or whatever and you toss it away without giving it a second thought.

Both Slater and Waites may be progressing enough to be ready for Opening Day. Szapucki, meanwhile, has been shut down for an undetermined amount of time due to elbow soreness.

And Waites isn’t expected to make the team and Szapucki getting hurt actually helps the teams bully roster crunch.

I dont remember what my anticipated opening day roster was. I will need to track down that post.

I know I had Szapucki on the opening day roster, though. He doesn’t have any options remaining.

So I guess my question would be, if Szapucki isn't ready, do you foresee the Giants carrying 12 pitchers and another position player or them filling in that 13th spot with someone like Waites (if ready) or another guy in camp?

I would need to look at my roster analysis. We are under a pretty hard roster crunch, so asset protection absolutely comes into play in that scenario.

I think the Perez/Sabol situation is a possible area that can be addressed if Szapucki is not ready for opening day.
