A switch hitting ( with power ) back stop is such a rarity in the big leagues.

I hope the Big Dumper can can start the season off with near similar stats he put up the 2nd half of 2022.

If Murphy can stay healthy and get some time behind the dish to give Cal regular rest and days off so he can stay healthy for the full season will be a good thing for the Mariners standings and aspirations WHEN they get into post season play this year.

Is there a rule or something about minor leaguers in major league camp? People actually talk about Campbell and Clase, especially Campbell so why not keep them with the big camp longer? Doesn’t matter at all in the big scheme of things just seems weird

My thought as well. It isn't like NFL where you have a cutdown date each week or so. They will still play. Mot sure about the compensation factor though. I know minor leaguers were complaining about that last year. They don't get paid I believe or its minimal.

Edit: Found it but this doesn't answer your question now. It would have in the past so ???

Your part about the commercials I do think is sadly going to be a huge part of the game if players salaries are going to keep going up in all sports. Teams value are ridiculous because of tv rights fees keep going up but I read somewhere that most local baseball tv contracts are going bankrupt or on the verge because they guaranteed way too money. The whole tv money stuff is fascinating because none of it makes sense at the moment because sports is the only thing that is keeping cable tv viable but sports alone can’t justify people paying the cable rates. So in theory there will be a shit load more ads plus baseball uniforms will look like Nascar cars.
Yeah I can see it happening. I think the line has to be drawn somewhere though.

Funny you mention the cable TV thing. I think I'm actually the only person in my friend group that pays for cable television, most of my friends have cut the cord or found cheaper alternatives. The only reason I still pay for cable is because of sports, I'm kind of tooting my own horn here, but I have multiple sources I can use to stream whatever I want for free, but it's just kind of a hassle and sometimes the quality can be quite poor. I've never actually paid for any PPV event I've watched, although I'm starting to consider it more as it's a hassle trying to find a working stream that's 4K.

I see your point regarding ads but I think that there are too many traditionalists to allow ads on uniforms. Additionally, I'm sure Nike or whoever provides the uniforms probably has contractual language preventing such a thing.

I took the day off today and watched the game, and man I've got to say... Jarred Kelenic really looks like a different hitter. I don't want to get my hopes up but his approach at the plate looks a lot different.

The numbers speak for themselves but I was particularly impressed that he wasn't chasing pitches.

I don't have the best eye for this kind of stuff but his swing also looked really nice.

Unrelated but Tom Murphy also looked really good.

omg i forgot about ulmax.

I'm getting the gist of what's going on.

i just read an article in the NYT about Ty France of all people. like a showcase about him. wtflol? it was very flattering.

i feel like this is a real sleeper team that the early predictors aren't really talking about much at all.
