Sympathy for your pessimism, but you don't have a crystal ball either. That is the magic of sports. The longer the shot, the sweeter the victory.Respect for the optimism, but this is not happening.

Sure, it appears they didn't like his physical and maybe he'll be a bad contract for the Mets with constant injuries. I'm just thinking overall they need to completely strip it down and do what other teams do. They never do that. But wasn't it the Giants who nixed the deal? If so, there is no conspiracy angle.
Wait until msg gets here and reads this, he’s gonna light you up…..You know the 'rule of thumb' that says a fan should wait 5 years after winning a title before they can start to rag on their team? Well it's been over 8 years, and since it was more titles that makes sense. But I'm done making excuses, these guys don't know what they are doing, FZ is not a good GM, and right now the Giants don't appear to want to do what it takes to truly compete.
I do not expect anything notable from these guys for a while.
Like I said, good for you. The longer the shot, the less likely the victory is also true.Sympathy for your pessimism, but you don't have a crystal ball either. That is the magic of sports. The longer the shot, the sweeter the victory.

I wish we were the Rays in terms of smart front offices. Think of what the Rays could do with our payroll. The tear-down needed to happen 5 years ago. Doing it now is probably needed, but it makes me feel like we are the Pirates or the Rays (or, gasp, the A’s).
I'd say 2nd to 4th place. I don't expect the Dodgers to be a 100 win team in 2023 but the Padres may have a shot at it. I won't bother to analyze their roster but I'd think that their WAR projections look pretty good. So, somewhere between first and last place, right?
Facts would include history. And history is replete with teams in all sports who stocked themselves with high-paid players and fell short, and also with teams who to vary degrees defied the odds and took home the title.I have facts on my side, you have hopes.
History is even more replete with mediocre teams who don't win anything. We'll see what happens. I'm pretty confident.Facts would include history. So it wasn't a failed physical?I don’t have the athletic, but just in case y’all do:

Beware the spin of the agent.I don’t have the athletic, but just in case y’all do:
Sure. 100%.Beware the spin of the agent.
What's he gonna say? "Yeah, my guy is damaged goods, so I don't blame the Giants for backing out."?
I live on the East Coast, and suffice it to say that San Francisco as a city has a bad reputation that is getting "progressive"ly worse with no end in sight. Not gonna get into the specifics or the reasons for that here - that is a topic for another forum. It is also the city itself, they just can't get star players to sign here
They tore it down bigly and stacked prospects. They were terrible for 3 years. I don't think the Giants have ever been willing to do it that way.I'll accept whatever the Astros are doing.
2005-2008 was pretty rough but it helped the team draft and acquire the core 2010-2014 teams. Its time to go through 2005-2008 again. They tore it down bigly and stacked prospects. They were terrible for 3 years. I don't think the Giants have ever been willing to do it that way.
