I don’t think Dubon or Davis get DFA’d. Davis was hurt all year, so ‘21 is a wash. They org has been so high on this kid, I have a hard time seeing them bail on him after one lost season. I think the org likes Dubon. He is an amazing athlete. He just gets a bit crazy with the plays he tries to make sometimes. maybe he ends up being a depth casualty, that is hard to judge, but I don’t think he will be a jettison like Dick will be.

As for 40 adds, I don’t have much of an opinion that. Losing ‘20 has made following the farm a tough task. It may take me another year or so get my feet back under me.

Assuming your list is accurate and all encompassing, I would think Corry, Hjelle, Teng, Beck, Ramos and Villar are locks. Some of the others may be locks as well, I just don’t have a handle on the farm. Where is Wilson in regards to needing to be added?
I could well be bring on Davis and Dubon. I hope neither get jettisoned but it may come down to how many new players they want to protect.

I'm going to try to do some write ups on the Rule 5 draft again this year, even if its just for myself. I like taking the time to look at those players.

Wilson was part of the 2019 draft. Those guys won't need protecting until after next season.

Considering that Belt is someone FZ would like to bring back and wants at least a couple of the starters to return, I think it would be in the Giants' best interest to extend QOs to all of Belt, Wood and DeSclafani. That way, if any of them leave, the Giants get some compensation and if they accept the QOs, then the Giants fill those holes for at least 1 year.

I just don’t see Disco or Wood as 18M players. I think 10M is a bit of a stretch on those guys.

I wonder, considering the free agent market, if either would accept the offers. I guess it really boils down to what is more important to each of them - a large, one year payout or a multi year deal. It would be a gamble, but I do agree that neither pitched to 18M. However, I wouldn't be surprised if one, or both, turn down the offer because, it seems, most ballplayers value having multi year deals.

Here's a look at the free agent starters on the market - Previewing The 2021-22 MLB Free Agent Class: Starting Pitchers

Never heard of him, but based on his numbers…. Meh. He is young, but that appears to be the only thing going for him.

Prior to this year, he flashed some potential. K rate is decent. I think he would be the type that could mature into a good reliever.

I’d like to see Wood back if the terms aren’t outrageou. I’ve seen enough of Disco.

I assume Gas is gone, no chance of him re-upping?
I wouldn't assume that at all. He likes it here, the Giants like him. It'll come down to money and I more than trust FZ to do the prudent thing.

Committed money for 2022:

Posey - 22M option picked up
Cueto - 5M buy out
Longo - 20M
Craw - 16M
Flores - 3.5M option picked up
LaStella - 5M
McGee - 2.5M
Alvarez - 1.5 option picked up.

FAs:
KB -- I think he signs late in ST elsewhere; FZ won't play the wait out the market Boras game
Gausman -- my guess is that he's back at 3/60
Belt -- back at 3/60
Quintana -- gone
Disco -- signs elsewhere for too much money
Solano -- back at 1/4
Wood -- back at 2/25
Ruf -- back at 2/4

Arb 1:

The roster as I see it now:

C: Posey, Casali
IF: Belt, LaStella, Crawford, Longo, Flores, Estrada
OF: Yaz, Wade, Slater, Duggar, Ruf
SP: Webb, Gausman, Wood, Hjelle, Kilian
RP: McGee, Alvarez, Leone, Garcia, Brebbia, Moronta, Doval

Obviously, this presumes a lot (Belt, Gausman, Wood signed as FAs), and still would leave us a bit thin at SP. I suspect there will be a few Wood/Disco/Kazmir/Sanchez type moves early in 2022.

I generally agree with you but I don't think Solano comes back. The Giants have Estrada and he provides more versatility. However, I may change my mind if the Giants decline the option on Flores.

I don't think 1 million brings back Leone. He could use this season to get a multi-year (think 2 years) deal and probably closer to 5 million (rough estimate) over those 2 years.

Ruf is not a free agent. He'll be arbitration eligible this year and next year.

A few players don't need to be on your list. Tauchman and Moronta are a minor league free agents so there is no arbitration decision needed. Sherfy and Tromp are not in the organization any longer.

He has two option years left. That gives him two years to figure it out.
That’s awfully young to try to figure it out AND be fully cooked by 25.

If FZ does it, I will trust that it is a good move. But right now I just don’t see it.
