Nothing, sorry
There is nothing real exciting about his minor league numbers (except maybe 2018) and he's going to be 26 years old next year. That means he'll probably be the next LaMonte Wade, Jr.Nothing, sorry
I'm not just ok, very happy. Now they need to sign Posey for a new 3/80Craw signed a 2/32 extension. I am VERY OK with that deal. Keeps a fan fave in town, short contract, low enough salary that we can eat it if it blows up…
Basically, yet another great FZ move…

At his age, and considering his history, I'm not banking him continuing this level of hitting into the next two seasons, but if he does, all the better. That'll make the contract even sweeter. An absolute steal considering the level of performance he is putting up on both sides of the ball.
This is basically a hometown discount. I suspect we will extend Posey for less than he could get on the market too.An absolute steal considering the level of performance he is putting up on both sides of the ball.
isnt the rough value of 1 WAR something like 8M right now? That means he just has to accumulate 4 WAR in the next 2 years to make the contract worth it.
For reference, he has about 4.5 WAR this year alone so far…
It is old for a professional athlete. And he is big for a shortstop. When he hits the wall, I fear he will hit it hard.Just to give us an idea how valuable Crawford is right now, this season he has an equal OPS+ to Trea Turner and he is rated at 4.5 WAR to Turner's 4.0 WAR. I know Turner is six years younger and will get a monster contract, but yeah, it's kinda insane that we are only paying Crawford $15M this year and that he agreed to extend at just a very slight raise.
I'm not worried about his age because it's only a 2 year extension and I'm optimistic that whatever adjustment he made to his plate approach and swing can carry over into the next two seasons. Mid 30's isn't young, but it's not that old.
I read that he is thinking of retirement in 2 years. He said something similar to what Will Clark said in his prime, that he doesn't want to go out when he isn't doing well. The funny thing about Crawford's comments is that he said he doesn't want to be 39 or 40 and not being able to move at shortstop. He won't be much younger than that when this extension expires. It is old for a professional athlete. And he is big for a shortstop. When he hits the wall, I fear he will hit it hard.
However, he may find a second career as a 3B or RFer.
You need to tweet that to both of them. I bet Krukow mentions it on the air
I'd flip the last two. Keep Slater and let Yaz walk. Of course, with so many free agents, the Giants will have about 13 open spots on the 40 man, even after all the 60 day activations. I doubt that they purchase more than 5 guys from the farm, tops, and probably still dfa a couple guys. I think that they could hang on to Slater and Yaz and maybe trade one (or both) of them in spring training.
- Dominic Leone – $1.5MM - Yes
- Curt Casali – $2.0MM - Yes
- Alex Dickerson – $3.0MM - Good luck with your future endevors
- Darin Ruf – $2.6MM - Yes, especially if baseball officially dies this offseason.
- Jarlin Garcia – $1.8MM - Yes
- John Brebbia – $1.0MM - Yes. Cheap, and he has a very good track record
- Austin Slater – $2.0MM - Sorry, roster crunch
- Mike Yastrzemski – $3.1MM - Yes, but trade him before spring training
