Since teams can only option a player 5 times before exposing the player to outright waivers, starting May 1st, and this team has a propensity to option players a lot, I thought it would be good to start a thread to track where players on the 40 man roster are in terms of remaining options on the season. Here are the counts as of July 4th, 2022 (I've added the April options in parenthesis as it may be good to know how many times the players have been optioned during the season):

The number represents how many times a player has already been optioned since April 30th, when it started to count against the limit. If there is a 2nd number in parenthesis, its the grand total since the season began but the first month doesn't count toward the limit.

The 5th option is okay, the 6th option is problematic (Minor League Options | Glossary | MLB.com).

I hope the ownership and/or members of the FO intervene. Imagine a scenario where a player is inadvertently lost to waivers because the FO lost count or a player gets stuck in AAA for fear that they cannot bring him up and keep him the rest of the year on the active roster. Walton is really close to either scenario (not that I mind if Walton is lost, except for the fact that they shipped a good young pitcher over to the Mariners for him).
