Marks is arguably one of the best GMs in the game. Dude has handled the biggest bunch of team killers ever and kept it competitive.

His biggest blunder was hiring Nash.

He also hired Atkinson I believe

The heat as been known since last season are not fans of kyrie. They are never going to give him the 4 yr max he is looking for

In the end I suspect not, but they should think about it carefully, if they can make the deals work where they only lose Herro and Lowry and get Kyrie.

I agree. I do think Marks is a good GM. But he was the one who assembled this Dream Team of misfits. If they blow it up without ever getting past the 2nd round, I would imagine that Joe Tsai is going to want to clean house even if Marks isn't really at fault for most of it.

Herro is a poison pill guy so basically they need the spurs to make it work

Except that any realistic landing spot would likely require a sign and trade since he wants a max deal. Not many teams that can sign Kyrie to space and I doubt that the ones that can are all that keen on bringing in someone like Kyrie.

It just seems to me that any realistic trade deal involving Kyrie will, at least on paper, make the Nets demonstrably worse. And moving Kyrie will most likely piss off KD. So then it is time to blow it all up. Starting with firing Sean Marks.

But, it’s kinda like the Clippers trading for George to land Kawhi.

You weren’t getting one without the other.

In retrospect, we can see both were mistakes.

SGA is better than both guys we landed and that’s not even including all the draft capital.

Nets situation could prove just as shitty considering they have had to deal with Kyrie, lost sloth Harden, Allen, Dinwiddie, Russell and could end up losing Durant when it’s all said and down.

But, those risks seemed worth it at the time.

I think that Marks did a great job assembling the team that KD wanted. And I don't think it is his fault that Kyrie took the crazy to 11 after Covid.

But I question whether Tsai will see it that way.
