Watching the Celtics/Clippers earlier this morning a play in the 1st quarter made me scratch my head.

D. White was driving to the bucket and clocked a Clippers player in the jaw and nothing was called. How was that not an offensive foul with contact made above the shoulders?

And why is it when I DVR games from NBAtv there are black bars at the top & bottom of the screen but when I DVR games on league pass it's a full picture?

In college they stop games and go to the monitors for it. A lot

Haven't watched many CBB games yet. But I did watch Pitt beat Carolina today.

I'd be curious how much liquid assets Jeanie has to be able to handle luxury tax spending. Obviously she's worth a ton but how much of that is because of the value of the Lakers

She probably ought to sell but it's unlikely she does

I guess I don't see her like I do Chris Illitch. Who is super rich and a tight ass with a team he inherited
Dude, the Lakers are their prime source of income.

Gotta think most, if not all, of that TV contract goes to tax.

So, they are basically robbing Peter to pay Paul.

The baffling part is that the payment is directly tied to ratings.

They must really believe people love the brand so much that they will continue to watch, no matter how shitty the product is.

So far, they have been correct.

In 2011 the Los Angeles Lakers signed the richest local television rights deal in the NBA. The 20-year contract with Time Warner Cable included the launch of two new regional sports networks –one English and one Spanish channel – and averages $200 million a year for a total worth of $4 billion.

Pretty much. She takes a salary as well I believe. Which is unusual for an owner I think.

Long story short she doesn't have the liquidity to go diving into the luxury tax like the Warriors.

But who the hell am I? She owns the Lakers and I don't lol

Agree about the refs. Still remember something Kendrick Perkins said last season about them. He said it's the worst he's even seen.

Another mindboggling call from the game last night, in the first quarter, Kawhi was called for a travel and he didn't even move his pivot foot. Just odd.
Yesh, that one was funny.

He just looked at the ref like wtf....lol

Yup

So, the Buss family trust owns 66% of the Lakers.

Dr. Buss was worth 600 mil at the time of death.

Each of the 6 kids got an equal 11%.

So, unless she sunk it all in crypto currency, she herself is probably worth 100 mil.

But, can't you see how this would become a issue?

You have a billionaire, Lebron, working for a millionaire.

I'm sure he's thinking, why tf should I listen to you when the only reason you are in this position is nepotism?

Shit, come to think of it.....

Lebron, Russ and AD have more cake.

Rich Paul too.

Dr. Jerry Buss massive wealth of $600 million was also distributed among six children via a family trust. Buss Family Trust is a 66% controlling ownership of the Lakers passed to Jerry Buss’ six children via a trust, with each child receiving an equal vote (11% for each child).

Lakers have probably doubled in value since he died

Easily...

Probably more after the Suns sale goes through.

But, they'd need to sell some, or all, to reap that benefit.

Forbes just did a ranking in September.

Almost 10x from when he bought it.

Still a substantial amount after death.

Hard to say how much when Ballmer and the guy in Phoenix upset the apple cart.

But, remember that's split by six and not liquid.

Stakes wondered what her liquid assets were.

Yeah I just meant from when he died

Hornets are worth 10x from when Jordan bought them and i think the bucks are worth 4x since they were last sold in 2014.

But they had much further to rise than the lakers

But yeah, they are all 11% of a 5b company

Is it 200 million?

She's not gonna trade her salary to pay Russ

Sure.

My point was they’re probably richer than just the lakers as their laker salary also allows them to buy other assets

They also can collateralize their lakers shares to buy other assets

Long story short she's not rich enough to own the Lakers.
