Lakers have nobody to blame other than themselves. Terrible effort the first half, dug themselves a hole. Sitting a healthy AD when even just a token appearance of 15 minutes might've been enough for the win. Despite having an empty roster spot, failed to add a reserve center with Bamba out for 4 weeks. Any breathing center that could rebound and collect some defensive rebounds could've won last night's game for the Lakers. All the Rockets had to do was either drive the rim without impediment or throw the ball on the rim and get the easy offensive rebound and putback.

Pelinka and the front office wasting their trade deadline good will with ridiculous mistakes like these.

Maybe give Dwight or Whiteside a call?

Either one could have given them the rim protection and rebounding they needed last night.

Hell, considering that they played better in the 2nd half, just playing AD his usual first half minutes and sitting him for the entire 2nd half may have been enough.

The only reason I can think of that makes any sense at all is that internally they figure they are going to make the play in and don't want to risk him re-injuring himself chasing the 6th seed when they're unlikely to get there.

As for not signing a center to a 10 day...

I wanted them to sign Jay Huff weeks ago.

That might be the only acceptable answer as to why they didn't fill that roster spot yet. That Klutch issue doesn't make it seem likely though?

But, could it be he finally understands his role?

Whatever the reason, he has been better and is actually contributing.

If true, this is as smart as the moves they made at the trade deadline.

This is the exact type of team they need around Lebron and AD...and they actually have some depth to be able to cover when AD and/or Lebron are out.

Just see how this roster finishes out the season then, as you suggest, maybe make a minor tweak or 2 in the off-season and run it back next year.
