If Lock wins the job and has a good year, do you keep him as your future QB or do you trade him and go get Rodgers, or another vet QB?

To me you stay with the young guy, but the level of success can alter the team’s view there.
I don't think it matters what kind of year Lock has - the Broncos will be looking for the best QB for the team next season. It's conceivable that Drew Lock can have that kind of year where he makes himself the answer to that question, but not likely. In his first year with the Broncos Drew Lock seemed to infuse the Broncos with a spirit - that Drew Lock wasn't there last season. If your team plays for you and believes in you - that can help overlook some flaws in your game.

It depends on how “good” he is.

Very true. If he’s good enough that we sneak a playoff spot, maybe even get a win in the playoffs, you can’t ship him off for an aging diva like Rodgers.

The more I think about it the less I care about any of the QBs throwing 50 yard TD passes in TC.
I like to see the QB comp head to head. Both QB had 2:10 seconds and 2 timeouts to drive 75 yards down by 5.

Both drove the team down to the 20 and then both threw RZ INT to end the game. If either had "it" they could have separated right there.

In these 2 preseason games, I want to see who can keep the team out of 3rd and long and yes score TDs in the red zone.

I think the starting order favors Teddy as the Vikings will learn some tendencies prior to the game.

Teddy will go in with more unknowns and more of a true game day environment.

I agree and disagree on the 50 yard TDs. If you can get the long TD it can completely flip the momentum of a game into your favor, and it also make the defense play more honest. If you are a dink and dunk offense with no big play potential it becomes easier to load the box for the running game. What we can’t do is go for the big play potential and have the turnover issues we saw last year.

I hope Drew wins the starting job by showing improvement and protecting the ball. I think if we stay in this state of either taking the job, then Teddy is our starter.

I’m starting to wonder if we screwed ourselves by not taking Fields

The silver lining to this QB dual is we should have a pretty reliable backup out of the deal.

As for the offense as a whole, we get the OL humming and open those running lanes, and then throw the coals to the soon-to-be vaunted Broncos aerial attack. #theworldaccordingtoPump

Hindsight in 3-4 years will be 20-20, but I think it was obvious that the Broncos were not sold on Fields. If you believe Albright the Broncos would have taken Wilson or Lance, but didn’t rate any of the other first round QBs high enough to take in the first round.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Surtain is a beast, and is going to be a star in this league.
And if the front office didn’t think Fields or Jones where the right pick then they had to take the best player available or trade back. They choose to take Surtain II. I am ok with that. They will have to address the QB position if they don’t have above average QB play this year. Will that be Rodgers? Wilson (Albright thinks this will be his last year in Seattle)? A rookie QB?

I am hoping Lock takes a Josh Allen type leap and we have our QB for the next 10 years.

For the record, I was 100% on the Broncos taking Fields. Not often you are picking that high and have a chance to take a QBOTF. Surtain may become a HOF CB and I’ll be proven wrong (again!) but the law of the NFL still is NoQB, No Hope.

The risk with taking a QB that doesn’t work out is it can set your franchise back. Remember Paxton Lynch? You don’t take a QB just to take a QB. The front office and coaching staff need to believe in the QB you draft, especially in the top 10.

Then never take a risk and never select a QB and limp along like we have for the past 5 years. Good times!

I was just sharing my opinion. I would have taken Fields. Lock has not shown enough - or maybe more accurately has shown enough bad habits - for the by far most important position on the team to be upgraded.

where I do agree with you is the best possible outcome is for Lock to become an elite QB. I’m thinking the odds of that are not super duper!

Lock had shown flashes of potential to be the guy and flashes that he is not.

So far this camp I think Lock has thrown fewer INTs then Bridgewater. We will get an idea of who will win the job on Saturday, and hopefully declare a winner after the Seattle game.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say you’re the first person who posted the words “super duper” in a post
