Interesting story out of NFL Network....

Justin Fields is dropping hard in the ratings. He has epilepsy and now teams are supposedly worrying that he could have a seizure under pressure in a critical game if he doesn't take his meds or his meds wear off.

The kid has never had a single problem in high school or college but now it's an issue.

If i didn't know better (I don't) this sounds like a BB scheme to move Fields out of the picture until the 15th pick in the first round.
When has BB ever done something that devalues a player? People give him far more credit and far less ethics than anything ever documented.

Sorry for asking an incredibly dumb-ish question but you guys all seem to know more about this shit than I do. Since you're talking about kickers right now: why wouldn't a team take a kicker in the earlier rounds if they felt pretty certain that he would be a very good kicker?

Adam Vinatieri went undrafted. Knowing what you now know, what round you suggest the Pats go back and take him?

Stephen Gostkowski was drafted in the 4th round. Good place to draft him? Higher or lower?

Are kickers somehow a greater uncertainty going into the draft than other positions which is why they fall so far or are they simply deemed less important?
Both Adam and Stephon made game winning kicks on a regular basis.
If anyone knew how good they were going to be they would have give more for them. A third? a second?
More than the other team that would take them.

Adam displaced Matt Bahr who was a favorite of Bill Parcels. He was brought in as training camp competition, then showed he had intangibles that elevated him above Bahr. The first season had nervous moments until he added what would be a career highlight, running down Herschel Walker from behind and preventing a kickoff return touchdown. Then he became the kicker who was actually a football player.

That play actually shocked the world.

I read an article about this today and was thinking maybe BB does actually take on of these QB's in the first round since Fields might possibly fall to 15. Still doubt it but ya never know.

This is one of the best post I have seen as it relates to the Pats and the QB situation
What's really lost on the entire QB evaluation is that some of the very best QBs ever have been afterthoughts come draft time. Brady in the sixth, Unitas in the 9th, Montana 3rd, Starr 19th effing round, and undrafted Kurt Warner.

These guys are generally considered outliers but, but, but.... How many other guys never got a shot? The farther back the less likely a true shot was given. Each of these guys were good enough to play in the NFL, then had a competitive instinct matched with true smarts. But these traits are a bit like finding a mass murderer based on a psychological trait. Every mass murderer seems to share certain traits, but very few people with those traits become mass murderers.... But there end up being plenty of them... Where mass murderers create their own opportunities, QBs need to be given theirs.

So your take away from my analogy is we should discuss what motivates a mass murderer? :)

The 2021 NFL Draft Starts at #7

Jacksonville - Trevor Lawrence
NY Jets - Zach Wilson
SF 49ers - Mac Jones
Atlanta - Kyle Pitts (Willing to trade but they want three first round picks plus)
Cincinnati - Penei Sewell
Miami - JaMarr Chase

Detroit - Rumors out of Detroit are saying that there are several teams offering the Lions a ton. Right now, the word is that the Broncos have offered #9, 2022 first round pick and 2021 third. The Bears are also in the fight have offered 2021, 2022, 2023 firsts and 2021 3rd and 4th. Denver is sharpening their knives. The broncos want Justin Fields and the GM Harmon has been given the green light to go get him.

Carolina - Carolina is also looking to trade out now that they have Darnold. Will the loser at #7 come here to get Trey Lance?? Yes, the beqrs take Trey Lance.

Denver - If Detroit makes the deal with Denver, they'll most likely go for Micah Parsons.

Dallas - Patrick Surtain
NY Giants - Kwity Paye
Philadelphia - Jaycee Horn
LA Chargers -
Minnesota -
New England

Scott Pioli said that there is more misinformation at this time of year because teams are trying to protect their draft information. Bert Breer said that Mike Lombardi has a real problem and that's because his son is a WR coach for the Patriots and he rarely talks about anything that he actually knows and probably is one of the most unreliable sources of Patriots info. Breer said that if anything, Lombardi is probably the best source of misinformation.

Click, Click, Click...............................

The more talk, the more misinformation is being released. It makes you wonder if they do it to protect each other when one of them slips.

Belichick said it best yesterday. "Don't worry. At this time next week, all of the first round picks will have been made."

So in retrospect, if more information is out as disinformation, then no information should be out as true information. That means any information out can be used to cross off candidates from a teams list. That narrows down the choices and might leave just one logical candidate for each team. The later in the draft the more possible candidates due to ideal selections already being taken.

By no means would this approach be perfect, but it could greatly improve mock success percentages.

Let me paraphrase your post.

If you read it it probably is not true!

So you are actually rephrasing the post I was responding to, but it also does apply to mine too. I guess I changed it a bit in the reference was to sending out disinformation to obscure information. But it makes more sense to not put out information and only put out disinformation. If the goal is to cover your tracks, wouldn't it make more sense to never leave tracks to begin with?

There's also something else entirely. In some cases you can't stop spreading information in the form of activities. If you attend a pro day you may have been observed instead telling others. But that's when you would create more real information by attending other pro days. That isn't really disinformation but is still clandestine.

So Bill only goes to the Alabama pro Day. So the information put out there is that he's interested iMac Jones. If Breer is correct, anything about the Patriots and the Alabama Pro Day is misinformation. Maybe he was there to look at OL and not the skills.

Bill went to the pro day. That's true and is information, not misinformation. He went, it happened. Disinformation is leaking bad information.

Bill went to scout a valid prospect. If someone takes him at 3 because they think Bill wants him at 15, then they are nuts. If they take him at 3 over Trey Lance because they think BB wants him, they should be fired. If someone trades up to 4 because he "slipped" to 4 and pays a ransom to do it, they should be fired because they are competing against themselves... BB does not pay ransoms.

Nobody buys these bluffs and disinformation other than those who don't deserve their positions.

Appears that the Patriots will exercise Isiah Wynn's fifth yer option and keep him at tackle. Whether it's left or right, no one is sure with Trent Brown sdet to play at the other side. BB just might be looking at an OT at #15.

Haven't heard much about J.C. Jackson after he signed the 2nd Round tender. Reports outside of Boston are that he's pissed about two things. The first is that BB put a second round tender on him and teams told him that they were not going to give up a second round pick and give him a 5 year $85M contract. Don't be surprised if JC gets traded during the second day of the draft this week for a 2nd round pick. That will give his team a year with him on his rookie contract and allow them to negotiate beased on his performance.

Stephon Gilmore is upset about only making7.5M this year and wants a bump. He would be making $14.5 if he hadn't asked the Patriots to rewrite his final two years last year and taken $7M from this year and put it on last year as a bonus. He's not losing any money, he just wants more.No one has any idea what's been offered or if anything has been but Gilmore's agent has met with the Patriots twice. It's believed that Gilmore wants a a final 5 year $90M ($18M per) with $60M guaranteed. Don't be surprised to see Gilmore traded during the draft. Most likely on day 2 for a second and third round picks.

Several teams have reportedly inquired about Sony Michele. If a team is willing to give up a first or second for a known quantity, the Patriots will move him. Don't be surprised if Michele is somewhere else come Saturday night.

More interesting........................all of these trades could be 2022 draft picks and not 2021.
