I just can't see that high a pick on a kicker when there are so many other needs that have an effect on almost every play.

Just for the record, I started this. Nobody to my knowledge has mockede a kicker to the Pats.....
Yeah I have not seen that either, although with 4? Picks in round three I can see it happening there. Is it 4 or 3 picks in round three?

one 3, 3 4's

I cant see anyone drafting a kicker before the 6th round.
We have 2 picks in the 6th.

There will be UDFA kickers but any good?????

Borregalez is the only one that caught my eye......

I can see it in the 4th, trade some picks maybe I don't know. I feel there is a need and if the kid looks good I am okay with a 4th

5th would be a reach.....

Our backup kicker was the highest ranked K in 2020......

I feel all picks are a risk I also feel we need a kicker I don't see 4th or 5th as a reach for a position of need

Rodrigo looks better than any kicker in 2021 draft .....

Rodrigo Blankenship
is arguably the best collegiate kicker available for the 2020 NFL Draft, not because of his unique look (not many football players are bespectacled), but because of he was 25-for-31 on field goals and went 44-for-44 on PATs in 2019, and his 432 career points are the most all-time in Georgia history and the second-most in SEC history.

Blankenship is the active FBS leader with 78 made field goals and hasn’t missed any of 198 career PAT attempts. He won the Lou Groza Award this past.....

Our backup was drafted as a 2nd round stud a couple of years ago. If he becomes that stud for us, does that remove the smear of last year's 5th round bust?

Sorry for asking an incredibly dumb-ish question but you guys all seem to know more about this shit than I do. Since you're talking about kickers right now: why wouldn't a team take a kicker in the earlier rounds if they felt pretty certain that he would be a very good kicker?

Adam Vinatieri went undrafted. Knowing what you now know, what round you suggest the Pats go back and take him?

Stephen Gostkowski was drafted in the 4th round. Good place to draft him? Higher or lower?

Are kickers somehow a greater uncertainty going into the draft than other positions which is why they fall so far or are they simply deemed less important?

I think because on a play by play basis the position is much less significant. Yeah there are times when a kicker makes the glory play but it pales in comparison to say a QB. WR, RB, DE, LB, LT etc. Those guys depending on if their team has the ball or not are out there every play. I am cool with 4th round but rounds 1 thru 3 I would rather not.

Adam V wasn't draft worthy or NFL worthy at all out of college. He's an exception in the trade to the extent he honed his craft over a couple of years after college including a stint in the European league. Without that exposure he may never had a chance to make an NFL roster.

Adding to YR, kickers break easily and drafting them is very risky. Just look at kickers drafted and you'll see most have been busts and a guy like SeaBass was a rare exception.

Not a dumb question.

1) nobody knows anything about what makes a great kicker. Leg, check, Calm in the situation, check.
2) they all have what thy need but most don't make it.
3) look at walterfootball K rankings for this year. Will any of them end up with a long football career?
4) you are correct about uncertainty

Interesting story out of NFL Network....

Justin Fields is dropping hard in the ratings. He has epilepsy and now teams are supposedly worrying that he could have a seizure under pressure in a critical game if he doesn't take his meds or his meds wear off.

The kid has never had a single problem in high school or college but now it's an issue.

If i didn't know better (I don't) this sounds like a BB scheme to move Fields out of the picture until the 15th pick in the first round.
