Dang, the only two movies Ive seen in the past year are Spider-man and Raya the Last Dragon.

So...I see Encanto in animated and without seeing the other movies I feel like thats a lock. I see a woman in the Best Director line so thats also a lock.

Kristen Stewart as Diana on the Best Actress line makes me feel like I just woke from a coma. Stewart has been terrible in every movie I've seen her in.

Power of the Dog gets my vote. I really liked the vagueness in the characters that allows the viewer to almost apply whatever story they like to the events that take place.

Best Director:

- Jane Campion - The Power of the Dog
- Steven Spielberg - West Side Story

keeping the actors motivations a secret, and portraying that on screen, imho is a hell of a directing job. Campion gets my vote. Besides, my second cousins are “Campion”, so I might be related to her in a round about way…. So I got that going for me…

Best Actor:

- Javier Bardem - Being the Ricardos as Desi Arnaz
- Benedict Cumberbatch - The Power of the Dog as Phil Burbank
- Andrew Garfield - Tick, Tick... Boom! as Jonathan Larson
- Will Smith - King Richard as Richard Williams
- Denzel Washington - The Tragedy of Macbeth as Lord Macbeth

I have only seen King Richard and Dog. Neither Cumberbatch nor Smith really struck me as “Best Actor” winners, soooo…

Best Actress:

- Jessica Chastain - The Eyes of Tammy Faye as Tammy Faye Bakker
- Olivia Colman - The Lost Daughter as Leda Caruso
- Penelope Cruz - Parallel Mothers as Janis Martinez Moreno
- Nicole Kidman - Being the Ricardos as Lucille Ball
- Kristen Stewart - Spencer as Diana, Princess of Wales

I still think Sandra Bullock should win this. How was she not nominated? I haven’t seen any of these movies.

Best Supporting Actor:

- Ciaran Hinds - Belfast as "Pop"
- Troy Kotsur - CODA as Frank Rossi
- Jesse Plemons - The Power of the Dog as George Burbank
- J. K. Simmons - Being the Ricardos as William Frawley
- Kodi Smit-McPhee - The Power of the Dog as Peter Gordon

I have only seen Dog. Between Plemons and Smit-McPhee, I think Smit-McPhee put in a better performance.

Best Supporting Actress:

- Jessie Buckley - The Lost Daughter as Young Leda Caruso
- Ariana DeBose - West Side Story as Anita
- Judi Dench - Belfast as "Granny"
- Kirsten Dunst - The Power of the Dog as Rose Gordon
- Aunjanue Ellis - King Richard as Oracene "Brandy" Price

Only seen Dog and King Richard. I don’t even remember the Brandy character from King Richard. Was that the mother? Melancholia “broke” Dunst for me. Every time I see her dead eyes, all I see is her character from that movie. I can’t give the award to either of these two.

Best Original Screenplay:

- Belfast - Kenneth Branagh
- Don't Look Up - screenplay by Adam McKay; story by Adam McKay and David Sirota
- King Richard - Zach Baylin
- Licorice Pizza - Paul Thomas Anderson
- The Worst Person in the World - Eskil Vogt and Joachim Trier

Only seen Don’t Look Up and King Richard. Not thrilled with either.

Best Adapted Screenplay:

- CODA - Sian Heder; based on the film by Victoria Bedos, Thomas Bidegain, Stanislas Carre de Malberg, and Eric Lartigau
- Drive My Car - Ryusuke Hamaguchi and Takamasa Oe; based on the short story by Haruki Murakami
- Dune - Jon Spaihts, Denis Villeneuve, and Eric Roth; based on the novel by Frank Herbert
- The Lost Daughter - Maggie Gyllenhaal; based on the novel by Elena Ferrante
- The Power of the Dog - Jane Campion; based on the novel by Thomas Savage

Only seen Dune and Dog. Not certain what the criteria is for this category is, though, so not sure how to judge. Not familiar with the source material for Dog.
