I was going to make a joke about how real method actors would actually gain the weight instead of using a fatsuit, and then decided to check to make sure, and Jamie Lee Curtis says she actually put on the weight, which director Daniel Kwan confirms:

Everyone assumes that her belly in the movie is a prosthetic, but it’s actually her real belly.
