Penny for sure will not be ready week 1 I doubt he will be ready the first quarter of the season the guy did completely tear his ACL. I don't know how I feel about signing Devonta Freeman the man had multiple injuries in 2018 and when he came back in 2019 he averaged 3.6 yards per carry. I don't see how he didn't jump on that 4 million deal when he is expected to split carries then once Penny comes back take even less work so it seems like easy money to me.
I know the seahawks are speaking to Carlos Hyde representatives but he did turn down an offer to come back to Houston so I doubt he will take a low ball offer but 4 million to split carries is more than fair to me.
Looks like you got your wish.
I think I like it. Although I think it's more about insurance in case Carson isn't ready day 1 of the season and not knowing if the injuries will have a effect on his running abilities going forward. If it was just about Penny and they were sure of Carson right out of the gate, likely they just go with Homer and Dallas for the first half dozen games IMO.1yr for 4mil.
It's a good move considering Penny won't be ready to start the year.

Hyde -- 1 yr deal for possibly as much as $4M? I don't know what those incentives are to get him there, but if he meets it then it's probably because we needed him to with health issues to Penny early and then someone else again late.
This is pretty much how I hoped the team would handle RB this off-season -- no early draft pick spent but bring in a relatively low priced vet. Hopefully the next bit of news is on Clowney coming back, or Griffen as a consolation.

I like it... He's one of the backs in FA that I wanted the Hawks to grab... Solid and dependable...
I'm stoked about the Hyde pickup. We lost in the playoffs last year because we entered the game missing our identity; although, I liked what Lynch brought to the table he didn't provide our identity. With Hyde we've added a second 1,000 yard back that upgrades the 1-2 punch from what we had on the roster with a fail safe should Carson go down. This is a positive pickup, now can we please go land either Griffen or Clowney?
... and Josh Gordon please... If he fails again, won't cost us much...
Hope the FO makes this move. Gordon was really making some solid plays before his susp.
I believe he liked playing for the team and the team liked him as well... Rumor is that he's living in Seattle and training there as well... With Covid, travel restrictions, etc, he could sign a friendly contract w/ the Hawks...
With Hyde getting 4 million... Where does that salary come from? Who's expense is it at? Clowney? KJ Wright? RW restructure? We still need to sign a run stuffing DT...
Screw Hyde, the Seahawks need to sign Boobie Williams.
