Not sure that is accurate. He started as a edge rusher but was developed into a LB before leaving the team. Could be they see Taylor as the answer, not really sure about that, but even if they do I could see them adding a pass rusher to bridge his learning curve.

The way players are listed is somewhat ambiguous these days. I do think that Irvin will primarily be used as a pass rusher, be it with his hand in the dirt or from a linebacker position.

Big difference though, I'm not asking him to volunteer, I'm just saying 15 million or 20 millions, really what is the difference in the big picture, if you have any common sense you won't spend that money in your lifetime, and it's not like it's gonna be his last payday, and he's ALREADY a millionaire !! He can sign a 1 year deal, hit the open market again next season, he wins no matter what, unless he has some catastrophic injury, which in that case he's still a millionaire anyway....
Oh, you aren't asking him to go down to the soup kitchen to hand out sandwiches...you just think he should freely take $5M less. Ah, now it all makes total sense.

Being a well paid NFL player opens up new horizons for purchases that some can't image.
Tom Brady California home that he sold.

Tom-Brady-California-House-2.jpg

Bought it in 2008 for 11 million, put it on the market for 50 million and sold it for 40 million. Athletes desire dream homes that run into the millions and millions of dollars.

That for a home and some like more then one cause they can. They like fancy cars also. Check this one out.

Supposedly went off a auction for 70 million.

Back in my college days, had a gal tell me there was no way she could ever spend a million dollars.:pound:

Yep, and the more someone makes, the more expensive their lifestyle. As a general rule anyway. I know for sure I live a lot more spendy life now than when I was 25.

it's funny when you think about it though, If I gave you 15 million dollars, or 20 millions, WTF difference does it really make ? Either way your laughing your way to the bank, and then in a years time you're gonna get another 15-20 million... It's insanity when you think about it...

For some guys the difference doesn't matter if they want to play for a certain team. For other guys it's about being the top paid guy and being king of the mountain at their position. Now Clowney thinks he's a 20mil guy but his injury concern is what will lower the price until he proves he can stay healthy.

What's the offer (do we know)?

I wouldn't mind Freeman... If Penny is not ready for week 1, I assume Carson wont be either. Really a shame those two couldn't stay healthy and we lost Penny so late in the season.

Falcons paying him 6 million not to play for them. Only 10 RBs make more then 6 million this season to play. Not sure how I feel about the Seahawks trying to sign him, other then they got themselves in a pickle to begin the season at the RB spot.

the offer was 1 year 4 million but Freeman has to also look at the 6 million he is getting from the Falcons and not ignore it like it doesn't exist. Every team out there knows you are getting paid still by the Falcons. 11 Million for one season, can't be greedy Freeman thats pretty good for a RB for a single year.

Penny for sure will not be ready week 1 I doubt he will be ready the first quarter of the season the guy did completely tear his ACL. I don't know how I feel about signing Devonta Freeman the man had multiple injuries in 2018 and when he came back in 2019 he averaged 3.6 yards per carry. I don't see how he didn't jump on that 4 million deal when he is expected to split carries then once Penny comes back take even less work so it seems like easy money to me.

I know the seahawks are speaking to Carlos Hyde representatives but he did turn down an offer to come back to Houston so I doubt he will take a low ball offer but 4 million to split carries is more than fair to me.

I certainly could be wrong, but I don't think Freeman is getting paid $6M by Atlanta this year. They gave him that money already (a total of $22M) as part of the 2017 contract he signed. The $6M is the dead money cap hit for the Falcons, not real money that Freeman is getting in 2020 (because he already got it before). Freeman had 2 years left on that 2017 extension, and the prorated bonus cap hit was $3M/yr.

If Freeman and Hyde are scratched off that leaves maybe Lamar Miller as the last one worth considering?

Why don't we just bring back CJ Prosise for one more season... He's good for a game or two until he gets hurt...

We did draft a rb, id rather give him playing time than spend good cap money on another one.

Hate to see them spend cap on mediocre FA RBs myself, but Dallas was Homers back up in college. Not sure how useful he would be.

I would really like to see Carlos Hyde before Freeman. Although his career has been sort of confusing and could be a pain in the ass in the locker room is what I’m thinking. Hyde was solid at SF, hardly given a chance to play in KC or Cleveland, and then busts back out in Houston yet not retained. The talent is clearly there, just odd to see his kind of talent bounce around the way it has throughout his career. If Seattle was his next temporary home I would be all for it.
