If both Devins are off the board, I can see them looking really hard at Burns.

I'm still in the mode that Bush will be on the board at 20.

I've seen mock with White going as high as 5th to the Bucs, but that's awful high for an off the ball DEF player. Normally top 10 picks are QBs or players that effect/protect the QB, or are insane skill position players. I can see DET taking White at 8...the other teams 9-19...BUF, DEN, CIN, GB, MIA, ATL, WAS, CAR, NYG, MIN, TN.

No for sure...ATL (DT, Edge), MIA (QB, OL, WR), WAS (QB)

Most likely not...BUF (WR), DEN (QB, OL), GB (DL, Edge), NYG (Edge),

Maybe, but probably not, TN (WR) CIN (OL, MLB)

Of course we don't know how these teams are going to draft, but on the surface there's a decent chance that Bush is still on the board around 15-16, and from there it could be a bit dicey, but I like their chances.
I don't think the difference between Devin Bush and Mack Wilson late in the 2nd is that great.

I'd say Bush is going to benefit from a weak overall draft class, and probably shouldn't be a 1st rounder in most years.

Steelers absolutely need to address ILB, and early. But I'll take a premium pass rusher over him, and then hit that position in the 2nd.

I think the Steelers should really try and trade up for Devin White if he makes it within their striking distance.

Lot of capital to make a move this year.

I'm a Mack (irony) guy, but I'm not sure how the Steelers feel about him. I think they value the 40 a great deal for the mack LB position so imo he needs to run something fairly close to 4.55...if he's 4.65 or worse at his pro day, I can see them passing on him altogether.

If they can get Watt level talent @ 20 I'd be willing to wait until 52 for ILB as well.

great prices on eli and moncrief damn.

But still no money, christ to even sign draft picks

:
Williams helped the Steelers create almost $2.9 million in cap room by having his base salary reduced to $805,000 and having a roster bonus and almost $4.3 million in salary converted into a signing bonus.

Because of the restructuring, the Steelers are $7.2 million under the salary cap, according to spotrac.com. That figure apparently does not include the salary to inside linebacker Mark Barron, who signed a two-year, $12 million contract over the weekend.

The Steelers will need to clear more cap room because they will need $8.15 million to sign their 10 draft picks.

Also, wide receiver Donte Moncrief’s contract is worth $9 million over two seasons. He received a $3.5 million signing bonus and will have a $1.5 million base salary in 2019. Moncrief will earn $3.5 million with a $500,000 roster bonus in 2020.

When the Barron signing becomes official, the Steelers could counter it by releasing safety Morgan Burnett. That move would save $3.6 million on the salary cap."

Burnett will go when the dead money can be spread over 2 seasons I'm guessing. I really expected Ben's extension would be done before the 17th and his $5 mil roster bonus kicked in, but now that it's passed there's no real rush I suppose.

PIT has to know that 10 draft picks are not making the 53 so I think we can expect some type of movement on or before the draft.

Mike Hilton won't sign his ERFA. He wants a long term contract. Steelers own his exclusive rights for 2 more years.

Guess who just got a new agent?

Yep, he's now represented by Rosenhaus. Fuck that. While I really like Hilton a lot and think he deserves a contract, fuck him if he wants to use Drew.

Replaceable.

I agree. But don't go and sign with Drew Rosenhaus. He should be on the Steeler shit-list right now.

Drew won't be enough to get him what he wants in this case....he's a good player, but the rules are fully in favor of the team and don't forget...they benched him in week 17 in favor of Sutton.

Sutton is not Hilton, but the gap is not that wide imo.

I hope he gets paid long term, but given the cap situation, it probably won't this yr unless he accepts something fairly low.

I was killing some time and looking to see what it would take to jump in front of the Bengals and take White: According to this site:

2019 NFL Draft Modified Trade Value Chart | Rich Hill Model

Our number 1 pick and both 3rd round picks = 397, Buffalo 1st round (9th pick) and 5th round pick =399. So that is right at the price to move that far up.

Our number 1 plus the 3rd we got from the raiders and 4th round pick is close to the cost of moving up to number 10.

Our number 1 and our original 3rd gets us in the 14/15 range for value.

Assuming the Bills or Broncos want to move down for fair value, I would think about moving up to 9 or 10, but no further. If White goes earlier, I do not trade up to grab Bush, I sit at 20 and take Bush or if he isnt there, take a corner or a pass rusher.

Great job on the value work.

I liked this post even though I'm not sure I agree with all of it.

Agree on the White part. I would target BUF or DEN to get ahead of CIN, because they likely will take him even though they probably should be taking an OT.

Not so much on Bush now that I've really gotten more intel on him. Personally I would not use all 10 picks, I would use one or two as leverage to improve a spot somewhere along the way. Would I use one to move up a few spots to secure, Bush? Yes. There seems to be a gap after Bush.

Ideally I would like to see Bush at 20 and use some of the draft capital to move up in the 2nd round for a CB. Amani Oruwariye from Penn St has the size, decent speed, the CLEM CB Mullen is a similar mold...should be on the board at the top of the 2nd rd.

Steelers released Burnett.

Not a June 1 cut, to spread the hit.

Wow...they probably needed the savings to make the Barron contract fit...tack on another couple of million to dead money, but we knew it was coming....good move.

I'm real salty that Brown and Burnett both get to force their way off the team, but keep all that dead cap money.

It's money they were paid to play THIS year.

Report: Steelers To Release S Morgan Burnett By April 1 - Steelers Depot

Looks like April 1 will be the date he's released if this article is correct.

To your point...I don't like it either when it works against the team, but it's a two way street with NFL contracts. Teams can release players if their performance falls off expectations whether the player wants to be released or not.

It definitely worked in Brown's favor...At least with Burnett I think the feeling was mutual...I think he was likely to get released anyway based on his '18 performance.

You bring up a good point though with the dead money...I think it's time PIT slowed down with the restructuring. I'm pretty sure that as soon as Juju and TJ get extended, shortly after they will get restructured.
