KCP can't shoot at all though.....yes, I know he's a really good defender.

Lol. Was just going to post that the Lakers have cap room.

I can't see him doing that though if it is only a 1 year deal. Pretty sure the Nets will throw Otto Porter money at him for 3 or 4 years.

I wouldn't say he can't shoot at all. He made 153 triples 2 of the last 3 years. He doesn't shoot it at a great % but he shot the 3 ball at 34 & 35% in the 2 of the last 3 years so saying he can't shoot is a pretty crazy statement.

Probably. If that happens, good for him. In the meantime, if I'm the Lakers, I'm at least checking on his interest.

That's fine. On a 1 year deal to help the defense, I'd have no problem with it. Plus, a shot can be improved upon.

True but he's been in the league 4 seasons and still sucks shooting wise...I guess a 1 year deal would be okay.

This. If I'm KCP there's only two options I'm going to look at:

1) Long term, big money deal, literally anywhere.

2) 1 Year deal, with guaranteed starting role and big minutes incoming.

If I'm KCP, I'm going to try to leverage every team with cap space to get the biggest offer he can from Brooklyn. I honestly though he would be getting closer to 18M per year somewhere around 60-70M this off-season, but I have a feeling he'll be topping out at around 50-55.

Guys get overpaid so much. I honestly don't see anything special about him. At most I'm offering 15 mil yearly to him. He is a role player at best. He was a part of that disgusting 2013 draft.

He has decent form, so there's every reason to believe he can improve on his shooting. Defensively he's already a beast, imo. I think any team he goes to he'll need to work on shot selection and balance. A lot of times his shot looks a bit rushed or his feet aren't completely set. At least that's what my limited viewing of him tells me.

He's about 2-3% behind Devin Booker in both overall and 3 pt %s but can defend. If he is willing to take a one year deal, Lakers should be on that quickly.

At this point, it's getting down to someone like him or Rondo. My guess is, that we are more likely to get Rondo. I agree with @bksballer89 that KCP will likely get offered a multi-year deal and take that over the Lakers 1 year deal.

If they do get him, you bring him in, get Keefe working on his shot with him and appreciate the defense he brings. If things go well, maybe he gets invited back. If not, no big deal, it's not as if you were counting on him to get you to the playoffs.

Yeah this guy DJ is out here acting like he is Andre Roberson or something. The guy isn't shooting 25% from 3. 35% from 3 is solid and he has done that 2 of the last 3 years. As you stated shot selection seems to be an issue. If you're shooting 35% from 3 then no way in hell should your overall shooting % be under 40. I think it should be in the low 40's which tells me he is shooting either too many 3's or most of his shots are contested.

15M sounds about right for 3 and D players these days which is what KCP's peak will be.

That THJ contract is a joke, but Knicks gonna Knicks.

I think this off season for the most part we've seen a ton of restraint from teams. There really hasn't been any contract out there that I've been like "HOLY SHIT WTF". Even last year I said that with Tyler Johnson, who's looked like one of the few to be worth the money he signed for. I laughed at HB and his max, but he's earned it so far.

Last year the Blazers went crazy and regret it. Knicks signed Noah. Hawks signed Bazemore. I have no idea wtf Orlando was doing when they signed Biyombo when they had Vucevic.

This off-season I really haven't seen anything crazy unless I missed one or two here or there. I've been kind of distracted at home with a new baby.

Nets are pretty much capped out with that Porter offer. They would have to wait and see if it isn't matched first.

Yeah there's been nothing real crazy. I think the Nets overpaid for Otto Porter which will probably hurt the Wizards in the long run but outside of that nothing too crazy.
