... KO at $50 mil is crazy. No way is he worth that kind of $$...
As other posters have mentioned... as far as "crazy" contracts go... this one is nothing.

4 years, 50 mil sounds plenty reasonable to me.

If Hayward meant we would lose Avery Bradley then I honestly wouldn't have done it if I was Ainge. Hayward isn't that good IMO where you can afford to lose Bradley who is by far the best defensive player on your team.
Bradley wasn't getting 20mil from us after next year anyway. Morris is a decent return, and Hayward is an obvious upgrade offensively and nowhere near a liability defensively. I'm fine with this, with my first gut reaction anyway.

Plus, it'll insure that Markief is actually Markief should we meet them in the playoffs again. :D

Celtics cap 'problems' will circle back to Horford.
They need to never give I.T. a max or they are doomed.
I agree its not prudent to move Bradley if you are seriously trying to beat the Cavs.

Bradley is worth 20.

I guess let's wait and see the end result roster.

C's will miss Bradley... no doubt... that being said:

Ainge has drafted well in this area. He always has had an eye for defense minded guards and wings...

C's still have Smart (at least for now) and Rozier... both play quality perimeter defense... they can pick up some of the slack of Bradley leaving.

There is more work to be done here. This isn't the Championship team, and while Bradley is worth 20mil to somebody after next year, I don't believe he was ever in the Celts plans at that price. Still plenty of assets, and now Hayward to draw more talent. This is still a work in progress. To your IT point earlier, I don't think he will get the max from Boston when the time comes.

The Heat signing KO for $50mil just reeks of desperation from Riley. No good FAs really want to come play in Miami right now. I think the way he handled Wade hurt us badly with future FAs. Just like Phil Jackson, Riley might be too Old School for the current NBA.

I think Dion and Johnson were both very good FA's.
As far as KO.
It came out of left field, but I see the vision.
Let's see how it plays out.

Exactly.....it's slightly above the MLE and he's a skilled big man.

Extremely similar players.....swingmen....

Just because you can play both guard and forward doesn't mean you are extremely similar.

I disagree. I think the Heat handled that perfectly. Look at how our team progressed once we adopted a team concept.

I agree that PF was one of our weaker positions but KO at $50 mil is crazy. No way is he worth that kind of $$. Millsap would have been nice. But personally, I think we have 2 outrageous contract in Ko and Tyler that will hurt us badly down the line. I like TJ just not for the $$. If we are able to come back at the level we played in the second half, we are a 4-5 seed.

Frankly, no one is beating the Warriors for the next couple years, this is the time to trade away what you can and stock up on draft picks and set ourselves up to be a legit contender again for many years to come. But thats just me. Arison and Riley did well by Miami and the fans know they gave us 4 great years of basketball. Im ok with sucking for a couple years while we stock up to be able to create another dynasty in a few years. Let Arison give his wallet a break.

Have you seen what contracts are going for now?

It's a helluva lot better than what the Lakers gave Mozgov and Deng just last year. :L
