Trade Joe Panik and Hunter Strickland to the Rays for Brett Honeywell, Jake Bauers, and Jaime Schultz.

3 AAA prospects that are near ML ready. Honeywell doesn't profile as an ace, and his K-rate plays up in the minors because of his funky, violent delivery (which also raises injury concerns), but he has the stuff to be a solid mid rotation guy with chance to be a solid co-ace.

Bauers is a OBP/contact based 1st baseman, but he's been playing a lot of outfield this year. Not a masher, but should be a solid hitter. 2012 Brandon Belt is a realistic comp.

Schultz has been a starter but should probably be a reliever. 2 good pitches, a fastball and curveball, poor command. Stuff plays up in the Pen.

Rays consider because 2nd base has been overall weak for them offensively and defensively. They also need Pen help. They fill 2 needs with guys they control through 2021 (Joe) and 2022 (Hunter).

Getting Willy Adames would be nice too, but I doubt it. He was traded straight up for younger David Price.

Trade Samardzija for Derek Fisher. (Kyle Tucker would be amazing, but a pipe dream).

Fisher is a potential 20/20, maybe 30/30 guy, with tons of K's, probably a .250 average but a good OBP, and not great defense. Being a lefty bat might make his game less valuable on the Giants.

Astros consider because they have a wealth of prospects, a stacked lineup, a pretty stacked Pen, and a need in the rotation. They also have VERY little money committed long term, and Samardzija would fit very nicely into their window. Pay him for 3 years before their young core gets expensive, let him walk when they have to start paying for their talent.

It's a fun time to be an Astros fan right now.

Trade Belt to the Yankees for Gleyber Torres and Albert Abreu

Torres is injured right now (TJ), but should be ready by next spring. Stick him at 3rd or 2B. One of the top prospects in baseball.

Abreu is a high risk-high reward guy. Potential Ace hampered by inconsistency and injuries.

Yankees consider because Belt would be a monster in that stadium, some much needed production at 1st base, and give them a lefty bat in between Judge and Sanchez.

Pitching could use some work, but the lineup gets a makeover with a ton of youth and solid vets still. There's always pitching to buy.

Yeah, but I guess theoretically if Shark's and Belt's contracts are off the table (even if the Giants kick some money, which is likely) Cueto's wouldn't be as bad to keep around.

Bum-Cueto-Moore-Honeywell-Beede would at least have a ton of potential to be elite, though as much potential to be a massive bust.

I don't know enough about Honeywell to comment there, but assuming he is a high prospect, that would be nice. Not sure what that does to Blach. He hasn't shown the ability to pitch out of the pen, so maybe he becomes trade fodder?

Has options, he can sit in AAA and be the 6th man

If the Rays want Strickland, I say we send him to them....in exchange for Duffman. Bring back the Duffman.

Duffy has played a total of 29 games in the majors and minors combined since we traded him.

Achilles injuries are no joke.

This.

Hate to say it, but it is a distinct possibility that his career is essentially over.

Kinda sad that Tampa getting a guy who may be too injured to revive his career still won the trade. Our guy is healthy and thus actively helping us lose games

Actually, according to BBRef, Moore has a cumulative +0.2 WAR for his tenure with the Giants vs Duffy's cumulative +0.1 WAR.

But I get your meaning...

Moore has been hot garbage this season, but last year for us he was quite good especially as the season went on. Was great against the dodgers in September, then shut down the Cubs in the playoffs.

Not really enough to consider it a "win" per say, but the trade worked out quite well last year.

Counter-point: the Giants didn't trade for him as a rental.

And, just looking at WAR to-date completely ignores Fox.

D-Backs make a big move, trading for J.D. Martinez.

They gave up 3 prospects, none of which were considered their best, but they also pay all of his remaining salary. Good for them, the NL West race should be very interesting this year.

JD is a rental, so it would have been hard to get a great package, I think.

Yes, but even so Dawel Lugo is the main piece here and he's a nice get, but Sergio Alcantara could end up being one of those throw-ins that turn into the best piece. He's a wizard on defense. Don't know much about the 3rd guy.

Should be nice for both sides as Lugo is blocked by Lamb and Alcantara is still a couple years away.
