There is no question that Hayward improves the team. However having him come back from injury and inserting him into the lineup in the playoffs changes how your team works. This isn't some role playing sub you will spot in randomly. It will be expected that he gets significant minutes especially if the Celtics struggle at all. I just don't see how that makes any sense at all. Teams spend the entire season trying to find out what rotations work and what don't. Experimenting in the playoffs seems like a really bad idea to me.

I can't think of a similar example of that happening.

I can't think of a similar example of that happening.

Hayward is a seasoned vet, though. That fact alone mitigates alot of the worry. Furthermore, he's not a guy that demands the ball or needs an offense tailored to him... he's versatile and is a relatively easy fit.

Obviously, it'd be better if he never got injured and was right in the flow of things... but I see more positives than I do negatives in his potential return this season.

But, might not play tonight.

So, Clippers should only lose by 30, instead of 50.

Adjust your bets accordingly.

But, they were playing without him for almost 2 Seasons.

Scottie Pippen had a career year, was a MVP candidate, Grant flew the coup.

They were a different Team.

You don't think they had to make a major adjustment when he returned with 17 games remaining ?
