Not at all. Bones heal and strengthen. It could happen at any time. If he gets the plate it could help. Think about the 3 times and the 3 hits he took. All of them the player drove his shoulder right into the ground. He has fallen that way plenty and nothing happened. I think it's more bad luck than anything.

We will see. So u want a first round Qb?
At risk of you misquoting me, it depends. We need a QB of the future and we probably need a QB to play a lot of snaps this year. I would love for us to find said QB in the first round but I'm not taking one just to take one. That is a recipe for disaster. If the team loves one of these QBs enough to take him at #4 I will be very happy. But I do NOT want us to feel we must use the #4 pick on a QB. IMO One thing is clear, we have put off taking a QB for too long already and need to do something. These guys we recycle through every year or two aren't working out for the long run.

And there have been hundreds of similar hits in the NFL in that time period. How many resulted in broken shoulders? IMO If you don't see at least a small problem you are either lying or hiding your head in the sand...

Thomas Davis has torn his ACL 3 times. The other day he simply tries to make a tackle and breaks his arm. I'm sure the Panthers cringe everytime he is slow to get up. It's football. I more worried about DEz's foot than I am Romo's non throwing shoulder. If Dez steps wrong next yr - go up for a pass and come down wrong- it could happen again. It's like this, if Romo gets hurt again- we will suck again.

Don't misunderstand me. I cringe everytime Romo gets hit. I would think all fans do when their Qb gets hit. The drop off from starter to backup for most teams is really significant. I just think their are more injuries that players have such as knees and concussions that I would worry about.

I am worried about Romo injuring every part of his body at this point. I think his body is old and feeble as compared to most NFL QBs (even those his age). I don't think he can take the punishment required to be a successful NFL QB. Which is sad because his talent, brains and desire are still that of an elite QB. Give the guy some damn steroids like everyone else takes and watch the wins add up...

I think you are missing the point...

Not quite...

Injuries or not Romo is the starting Qb for this team for the foreseeable future. No rookie QB is going to change that - unless Romo suffers a career ending injury. Would it be nice to have a competent back up? Yes. But even if we do draft a QB this year - which I am on board with - he isn't starting for a few years. And I wouldn't hold my breath hoping for a QB in the 1st.

For those of you (mainly you) who think Romo is somehow going to fall apart and not be the QB of the Dallas Cowboys for the next few years.

Does he have injury concerns? Yes. Who doesn't in the NFL? But I'll bet my bottom dollar Romo will be at the helm for the 2017 season, and possibly beyond.

Yeah and let me know if I've ever once said Romo won't be our planned QB for 2016 and/or 2017. But, I do have a question for you. How many games do you expect him to play in 2017?

if you think he's not a bigger injury concern than other NFL players you are smoking some good stuff...

Like you have talked about it before and it's the truth- he can help himself from taking unnecessary hits by getting rid of the ball quicker. I really think he knows this. He always talks about fixing things and I have a feeling this is one thing he is talking about. The thing is he has to do it and not just talk about. He seems to always go for the big one when the 5 yard pass is the safer one. I'm not saying dink and dunk every play. I just think there are certain times where we get him more protection and he can throw deeper routes. What worries me besides injuries though is what if he does do this and it hurts his decision making. He has always taken pride in processing info quickly. To me this may speed him up and not allow for as many big plays.

As much of a stat whore that I think ROdgers is- I watch him every week- he really sacrificed this year. Now he still took a ton of sacks but he threw the ball away numerous times. His rating and completion percentage went down because of it, but it was the best for his team at the time.

Romo has more injury concerns then most starting QB's at this point. He has had three season ending injuries. He may be at the helm in 2017 like he has been for all seasons, but will he finish is the question you should ask. At this point Romo is a huge injury concern.

Totally agree. And as we all know this is not the same team without Romo as it is with him. We aren't going to find another Romo for 2016, but I hope we find someone a little closer than we had last year. I said after 2014 I thought we overachieved and many close games went our way. I think the opposite happened this year. How many games did we lose in the last Qtr that we COULD have won? Not saying we were a SB team or anything, but having Romo this past year would have made a difference in the outcome of a bunch of games IMO.

My point is I'm willing to have a 90% Romo if he changes his ways and does some of the things you describe above for the whole season than a 100% Romo with a higher risk of losing him for a significant part of the season. He can still take risks, but he needs to pick his spots a little better

I agree. You can never again go into a season believing Romo can play an entire season. That's not a knock, the guy is a warrior, but at his age, all the major injuries he has sustained have a cumulative effect. He is no longer the athlete he was when he was younger, his flexibility is gone, his spin and escape move has become a spin and fall into the fetal position move. The guy is still hands down the best option, and is gonna win games when he's in there, but he's not a big hit away from the shelf anymore, it's more like a big bump

I'm not a Doctor, but heres my prediction. If Romo Re-injuries his shoulder are back again his career is over. As I look into this bowl of cereal i'm eating there's a 50% chance this happens. JJ better have a better back up plan then Weeden, Cassell, or Moore. If we like a QB in this draft lets nab him.

Now the SB is over we are starting to see and hear rumors of player departures and ideas how teams will want to move. I have three hot sports opinions/predictions:

1) Washington will let Cousins walk, and in return sign P.Manning to a 2 year deal, 1 guaranteed with a gentlemans agreement between Snyder and Manning to bring Manning into a Elway type FO role over the next few years.
2) The Saints will trade for Jimmy Graham back. SEA doesn't seem like a good fit, but I have no idea the price. A first rounder?
3) The Texans will make a play for Cousins after the non-exclusive tag is placed. They will feel the #22 this year and whatever they have with Cousins leading them next year would be worth the investment. Washington will gladly take the two 1sts and Manning then try to draft a replacement QB this year by grabbing Paxton with the #21 and then HOU's #22 for whomever else they wanted.

Obviously I'm 99% sure going to be 0-3 on those, but in my mind they would all make great sense. WAS would be wise to take the #1's if they could get one year of Manning and a young QB that looks good while saving the cap space on a year and a half of Cousins. Granted I still don't think much of Cousins so take my ideas with a grain of salt. SEA played better when they weren't trying to pay attention to Jimmy, so they would be wise to get whatever they can for him. A 1st is of course too much, but how desperate to win again and win soon is SeanP?

edit: I realize I'm discussing the Skins here, so any skins fans that read it feel free to speak up here but keep it on topic and respectful por favor. :suds:

Cousins is in a better spot right now from an earning perspective than he will be at any other time in his life. I liked him better than RGIII all along and think he is a decent NFL QB, but he is not going to be a dominant NFL QB and I would not give up two #1's for him. He has Washington over a barrel. They cannot and will not let him walk. He probably ends up getting tagged or signed to a contract that over pays him. I think he is a decent QB that could certainly be a starter in this league for a number of years. For a QB that means $16M per year (Dalton like deal) and I'm not sure he is worth that in a cap world, but I don't think a lot of QBs are and that is what they get.

I think Manning will retire, and Cousins will get about twice as much as he is worth from Washington. Wouldn't be surprised to see Bradford end up in Houston

FA DTs. Ngata and Fairley could both be available. Ngata certainly isn't the All Pro he once was, but won't command that type of contract eiter
